Sorry if this isn't the proper forum for it, but... I need help with two ROM hack patches. I really want to play them both! But there's an unicode encoding issue in my way or something. Every time I try to download the zip files containing the patches and extract, they show up corrupted thanks to the japanese characters in the names, in both WinZip and 7-Zip. Can someone help me out? Either with some workaround that works in Windows Vista for a non-experimented user who has never used command line stuff before, or by giving me a working download for the patches without japanese characters in there? The two patches: Pokemon Altair?/Vega Fire Emblem 7if I would be in your debt forever if any of you could help out, none of the tech forums I tried over the last few days understood the problem.

Welcome to the forums, NeoQwerty, and thanks for watching my Vega TAS! The filename of the patch file does not matter. As long as you can extract it, you can rename it afterwards and then patch the ROM. Pokemon Vega is a Fire Red hack, and you must patch "1360 - Pocket Monsters - Fire Red (J).gba". As far as I know, Pokemon Altair/Sirius is an Emerald hack. I suppose one would patch an Emerald J version. Edit: If you want to save using the battery, you must set the save type to Flash 128K, and it must be done before any playthrough is started. This is also necessary to access the post-E4 gameplay. As long as there is no error message beginning with "1M" at the beginning when you start a new game, then it's OK.

Thanks for the reply! Tried it out, and it just turns out I was patching the wrong ROM, thinking Vega and Altair were the same... Now I feel silly. Just wanted to say I found your TAS amazing, and thank you for showing me a hack I would never have found otherwise!
