Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "Competition" by speedofsound92

  • Emulator Used - Gens11svn296
  • Genre: Platform

Main Priorities:

  • Aims for fastest in-game time
  • Abuses programming errors in the game

Level Comments:

I selected "Time Attack" mode because it allows you to exit the stage by pressing Start+B. I can exit the stage without having to wait for the time of the "FINISH" animation and it will still count the level completion time. This saves 10 seconds off this movie.

Azure Lake (04.87)

I found a way to improve the zipping glitch with the tree trunk with better pixelation. This time it sends Tails through the tree trunk for the second lap in a row (his speed needs to be <1E00). I skip the final lap by going over the goal post over the top of the screen and crossing it again when I fall back down.

Balloon Park (02.63)

When Tails is jumping up and he is within a certain distance near the platform where the goal post is, the goal post won't count a lap when he crosses it. This allows Tails to fly through the ceiling during the countdown. Jumping over the goal post is faster than spindashing through the level.

Chrome Gadget (17.93)

I found two new glitches: Tails stands at the edge of the platform when it is descending and he falls through the floor. Tails flies under the springboard and it zips him through the floor.

Desert Palace (07.53)

During the countdown I get a head start to skip the first lap completely.

Endless Mine (21.21)

I jump above the screen after breaking the rocks and land on the floor where the goal post is.

Suggested Screenshot:

Frame 1392, 3551, 3715, 4030

Final Comments:

Credit goes to nitsuja and mmarks for making a great movie of the Sonic 3 Competition levels.
Enjoy the movie!

"Shares an IP address" means "has the same IP address as". You can't deliberately share an IP address with someone else unless you are an ISP or something. Btw, could someone explain this run? The submission text is not extremely explanatory and seems to assume that people already know what it's about.
Let me make it harder to decide with just one word. Schools.

He just did it again! SpeedofSound92 keeps deleting his posts. He shares an IP address with another member of the community. I'd like to know why he is intentionally deleting his posts, when they contain nothing inflammatory. Additionally, I'd like to know why he has a shared IP with another member. This is bizarre behavior. And I hope it isn't for the reason I suspect.

With DarkKobold?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
