Greetings, I have made a video of Wario Woods (USA) where I completed rounds 1 through to 30 (29 being the last level) in just under 15 minutes. I believe i can improve on this result, but i'd thought i'd share the result (my third attempt) anyway. http://www.stealth.mihopa.com/uploader/fileupload/store/warioswoods-tankos.zip I'd appreciate any comments and improvements.

I have improved the video by 1 minute! ^_^ You can get the improved fmv here. I would also like to know some other interesting puzzle games to attempt ^_^

When you think it's good enough to be published at my page, submit it according to the submission instructions. These forums are not meant for movie publications.

I watched the first version earlier and wasn't satisfied. There were hundreds of places where you could had done better. I hope the new version is better.

After you sent me the fmv file (version 4), I reviewed the first 10 levels of it and saw that it's quite suboptimal. I decided that I'll try the game myself and if I can't beat your time, I'll publish yours. Your time for levels 1-10 was 2:27. I got 1:55. Conclusion: Your movie won't be published as it's now. https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/bisqwit-wwoods-incomplete.fmv

That's a pretty cool way to determine publishing standards. "If I can beat you, you don't get in."

I don't usually do that, but I had this feeling that the movie wasn't as good as it should be. I wanted to prove it.

great start so far, definitely interested in seeing the rest... ive been playing it in animal crossing for GC, since its an unlockable game, and im stuck at around level 88... the later stages are harder than most other puzzle games ive ever played.

haha..... sorry. I stopped this for a bunch of reasons, one being although i did get a reasonable speed, the first 15 levels are basic and put people off the video (even though it can get pretty hectic around the 22 mark) you're more then welcome to try though :)

I was looking through the submissions and downloading a many of the videos, and then I sat down to my Wii and started playing some Wario's Woods...and I wondered to myself if this game would make a good TAS video or not. I want a couple of opinions. I'm already working on it right now, though I am kinda new at this. Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks!

Knowledge of past attempts and past discussions is good to have. Merging this post to the existing thread by the same topic.

I made a new WIP yesterday. I played in mode B. Used FCEUX. https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/bisqwit-wwoodsv2-incompletev1.zip This goes 11 or 12 levels, I don't remember which. Oh... and why NES version, not SNES? A good question. Possibly because I'm not familiar with the SNES version… Nor am I comfortable with snes9x movie making.

Plus the NES version is, I believe, the last "official" cart they made for the system... makes me all teary-eyed.
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

I remember the day I bought this game. It's surely 15 years ago :D but this was my first (and only) NES game I ever bought myself. Also it's my first game ever. ..I'm happy to see an B-mode run :) it was scarry when Wario grows bigger than the screen :/

I really think this run should be done on the SNES version. If I recall correctly there is boss mode and a 100 round mode. (actually endless, but could be defined as ending at round 100). It's been a long time since I've played though. Doing combos in vs (boss) mode can place horizontal or vertical rows of enemies on your opponents and lower the ceiling. You have to get completely crushed to lose, not quite like Tetris. From GameFAQs - On the SNES game, highlight 'VS' and press Left + Start to access the hardest mode. I think a SNES boss mode run on hardest mode would probably make the best run. I also think the music is better on the SNES version. =p EDIT: They might ruin the music in boss mode on the hardest difficulty. =/ Sample Gameplay in SNES boss mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSCP1NV3D70&feature=related One more thing. Regardless of NES/SNES it seems to me like it would be strategic to pump the down button at specific frames while doing other actions, or in between actions in order to make bombs fall faster. This would surely speed up Bisqwit's WIP if it works. It may very well not work though.

I have used this. However, having an extra bomb on the screen when the round is cleared costs about 40 frames, so it's not a good idea in all cases.

that is, the fairy/crow trying to make an object when there are no free spaces. Disrupting the creation other ways (when free space is available) works and has no ill effect, just preventing the object from appearing. Don't see a TAS application of it though.
