"I hope to get back to the less glitchy run at some point" were my words at the end of my first Sonic Advance submission. Now, almost 18 months later, I have actually finished the run. The run itself wasn't particularly arduous, but I did work on various other things and also had a number of real life commitments that held up progress. I first began TASing Sonic Advance with a view towards making a run that offerred something different from nitsuja's glitchfest, but unfortunately I was able to make a greater glitchfest myself. I always felt that this run should be made at some point so I continued progress. The glitched run of Sonic Advance features considerable use of a glitch that can be dubbed 'the Ultraspindash'. This glitch occurs when one revs a spindash 11-12 times on alternate frames. The effect of this is that a very high speed is unleashed (the velocity is over 17000, as opposed to 2000 to 3000 from a normal spindash). This high speed allows the player to pass through walls and other solid objects; in other words, it completely dictates how the game is to be TASed. This run does not utilise this glitch, and is therefore intended to represent a run more closely related to other Sonic games. In depth notes as to the mechanics of this game can be found in the submission text to my previous Sonic run. Enjoy!

FractalFusion: Looks very good. Apart from the first zone, it is very different from the heavily glitched version, especially in the Egg Rocket level. Accepting for publication alongside the Ultraspindash version, and the Knuckles version.

natt: Processing. Will publish with the usual encodes. A downloadable camhack would be nice, but at least we have the youtuber of that.

I'm correct in saying the script for the cam hack isn't available to just download anywhere right?

It's a special VBA build. Should be available somewhere.
I had thought that myself, as the run with the 'ultraspindash' does indeed have a special vba variant for it. Might be user error on my end but this run doesn't even play on that emulator. Re-reding the thread made me think it wasn't as simple as I hoped with what you suggested either. That emulator is here for reference; http://www.bluetoaster.net/emu/all.htm Edit; What a great new page... edited in quotes for context for what I'm going on about.

I apologize for the double post, but now I'm having issues with that cam hack vba, I thought I knew about. I'm unable to play back either the ultra-spindash or non-ultraspindash files on it when the cam hack is active. Triggering the camhack command while the input file is being played stops the movie file and seems to switch to rerecored mode. And using the command then loading the file, doesn't work? Either I get an error... or nothing happens.

I'm on vacation right now, but when I get back, I can take a look. The problem with the camhack enabled recording over the movie sounds familiar, but I think there is a simple workaround.

Sorry for the delay, I have no excuse =(. It works fine here, how do you trigger the cam hack? I have the cam hack hotkey set to S.

No need to apologise; you are doing me a favor after all! Had it set to Backspace as iirc thats what nijutsa had it set to. Just tried again with 's'... the cam hack aspect works; Sonic becomes centered, but the inputs from the movie file just stop. Near immediate edit; Oh wait, as soon as I typed that I figured it out. I had read only mode unchecked. (Having looked into Bizhawk since I asked the original question, gave me the extra small basic experience to deduce what could be wrong on my own; but thanks for the offer Aktan, it was much appreciated.)

Did you set the movie to read only? (Default). Re-download the movie file, maybe you by mistake wrote over it.

Ah! You beat me to posting my edit by 5 seconds! Yeah, that was it. Cheers again!
