"I hope to get back to the less glitchy run at some point" were my words at the end of my first Sonic Advance submission. Now, almost 18 months later, I have actually finished the run. The run itself wasn't particularly arduous, but I did work on various other things and also had a number of real life commitments that held up progress. I first began TASing Sonic Advance with a view towards making a run that offerred something different from nitsuja's glitchfest, but unfortunately I was able to make a greater glitchfest myself. I always felt that this run should be made at some point so I continued progress. The glitched run of Sonic Advance features considerable use of a glitch that can be dubbed 'the Ultraspindash'. This glitch occurs when one revs a spindash 11-12 times on alternate frames. The effect of this is that a very high speed is unleashed (the velocity is over 17000, as opposed to 2000 to 3000 from a normal spindash). This high speed allows the player to pass through walls and other solid objects; in other words, it completely dictates how the game is to be TASed. This run does not utilise this glitch, and is therefore intended to represent a run more closely related to other Sonic games. In depth notes as to the mechanics of this game can be found in the submission text to my previous Sonic run. Enjoy!

FractalFusion: Looks very good. Apart from the first zone, it is very different from the heavily glitched version, especially in the Egg Rocket level. Accepting for publication alongside the Ultraspindash version, and the Knuckles version.

natt: Processing. Will publish with the usual encodes. A downloadable camhack would be nice, but at least we have the youtuber of that.

Awesome. I'm glad to see you have finally finished the first Sonic run you started. The wait was well worth it. My favorite parts are the acts where you manage to stay off-screen and the second act of Angel Island Zone. I also noticed that you improved a couple boss fights compared to your other run of this game. :o Possible screenshots:

Of Zeupar's suggested screenshots, I like the best because Sonic looks like he's going "Wait WTF am I doing". I look forward to watching the video once an encode is made.

May I suggest that instead of saying "Sonic, no Ultraspindash", we call this run "Sonic, low glitch"? We have a run for Pulseman that is tagged as "low glitch", and I think the terminology is cleaner. Also, the purpose of leaving out Ultraspindashing is the same as the reason for avoiding the screen-jerk bug in Pulseman: take out one large glitch that drastically changes gameplay. EDIT: I just finished watching this movie. Very nice! There was still a fair bit of offscreen action, but by and large, this movie is actually watchable without a camhack. You do get a better chance to appreciate the stage design. My favorite parts were the Mechaknuckles fight (I just like how comically he takes damage) and Egg Rocket 1. It was very impressive to see an unglitched run through that with some very precise maneuvers. Yes vote for sure.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I have been waiting for a Sonic Advance 1 run that shows off the speed you can achieve in the game (rather than how you can skip the game.) since vba was released. Easy yes.

There is also the Sonic the Hedgehog "no zips" run. In my opinion, "low glitch" is too vague. I think having a more specific branch is better, especially in cases like this where a single movement (or trick, glitch, etc.) isn't used. By the way, I have created a poll with the different screenshots.

Great run! This was entertaining even without ultraspindashing. I really liked the crazy jumping in Egg Rocket. Yes vote!

Apparently, someone either thought this game doesn't deserve another category or prefers any% runs to "low glitch" runs.

Does anyone anywhere know where I can get source code to the Sanic Camhack VBA?

Could whoever did that first Youtube encode make one with just the VBA hack screen?

I was somewhat disheartened to see Sonic's lack of respect for the laws of physics still in place. Post-publication yes vote.

As long as it isn't like the pure speed TASs of Sonic 3. Someone needs to make a screensaver or something of random stages scrolling by.

Do you mean a download encode, or another YouTube encode?

I've long since just did a re-encode based on the Youtube encode using AVS to crop it, but I meant a non-Youtube encode. I did an AVCHD encode of the Super Mario 64 0-Stars TAS a few days ago to test my BDP at 10, 20, 36, 40, and 72Mb/s. Regretfully, I deleted the output files and the source files, but I still have the script source, So if anybody wants some I could whip them up again. Or I could host the scripting somewhere.

If I'm the only person that wants it, not really. I thought other people might want it.

I'm correct in saying the script for the cam hack isn't available to just download anywhere right?

It's a special VBA build. Should be available somewhere.
