NitroTracker, heralded as revolutionary for its "sandbox" gameplay, is a game about tracking. This run aims to demonstrate the game's true potential when its speed is pushed to the limits.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: DeSmuME 0.9.6 x86 msvc 1500
  • Plays a homebrew or hacked game
  • Single level
  • Uses hardest difficulty
  • Creates fastest song
  • Carries on

Comments

This run requires the Nintendo DS homebrew program NitroTracker by Tobias Weyand. The version used in this run, v0.4, can be downloaded at https://github.com/0xtob/nitrotracker
Gameplay is straightforward and should be self-explanatory. Note that to the untrained eye, it may appear that I became confused about 27 seconds in and accidentally left the emulator running for a few seconds with no input, but do not be fooled: this is advanced, complex luck manipulation of the random number generator for the subsample position of the microphone noise, necessary to achieve the maximum sound quality.

Other comments

I spent all afternoon on this, so it should be accepted.

Nach: I'm sorry, but random music playing in some homebrew game does not qualify for a TAS. Rejecting.

It's creepily silent at first, but then it's pretty awesome. Is that Dragonforce? It seems like Through The Fire And Flames.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Yeah, I first clicked on the encode, watched for 20 seconds, and concluded that this run was garbage. Then, I saw mklip2001's post, clicked on the encode again, watched the whole thing, and now this run is the most awesome thing ever. Sorry for judging you on the first 20 seconds, and yes vote.

Yeah, I thought it was a problem with my computer. It appeared you were playing back the song and adding notes (percussion?) to it, but there was no sound. Good song, though. It was worth the audio-less wait.

This is a great Tool Assisted Superplay of a non-game. I vote yes. Now try composing your own song. ;)

I'm glad people got some amusement out of this. Maybe someday I'll actually submit a real TAS.

I'll pass on that, but luckily for you someone's already done it!

At the rate I compose, I probably wouldn't have finished until next year's April 1st and it wouldn't be as funny anyway. Actually, I usually don't even use trackers, which is probably why I kept messing this up while I was making it. If you watch closely enough you can see me going back and redoing parts that weren't right multiple times.

Then we clearly can't accept this, it is not optimized enough.
