I own the game for the gamecube, and i am pretty good at it. Thing is, i haven't tried a speedrun of this game yet. My normal time is around 5 hours collecting everything not going through as fast as i can. I was wondering, if i took the time to plan a 100% run of the game, would anyone be interested in it? I mean, it would take me some time to get everything down pat, but i played through it around 100 times already. It won't be a no hit run because it won't be played on an emu with replay ability, and if i record the run on a vcr, you will see where i try to replay it.... unless i break it up into parts. Like for instance, when i beat Gutsman, i could save then start the game back up for another part of the run, but i find breaking runs into several points isn't as interesting, at least IMO. I would rather see something played in one full run. Alright that being said: Would anyone be interested in this? Does anyone have any suggestions on which is a fast way to go? Should i make it a 100% speedrun? It will take awhile to perfect, maybe a few weeks. I will try to go through collecting only the enemy powerups i need. Only thing is, sometimes, i will end up getting a few extra's because they may be necessary if i botch up a shot. i "Believe" i am good enough to go through the game without dying, but i will make a few runs before i make the official run.

Sounds very interesting. I like it! Although I'd perfer a minimalistic run (looks more impressive IMO) I'd view either 100% or minimalistic.

Wouldn't a 100% run take forever? If you were trying to get every chip?

Ok, i meant by getting all the powerups, not the chips. Sorry, i wasn't specific in what i meant. Yeah, if i did try to get every enemy chip, it would take a very long time. I'll only get the enemy chips i can make use out of, like dash, double jump, cannon, invicibility etc...and those flower bomb things*forgot the name* very powerful. I'll pretty much just get the ones in my way, i may backtrack a bit to the last enemy if i don't think i have enough of that spicific type of chip though. Well, maybe i won't bother. I will start the run in about an hour and see how things start out.

Alright, went through it once, i beat it in 5 hours and 57 minutes, i missed something and i don't remember exactly which place the HP ypgrade is. I know where everything is and all, but just missed it somehow, maybe i didn't have an unlocler at the time. Anyways, i know i can do better, and i will. Besides, this was only my first try through the game as fast as possible...oh and i died 2 times from stupid mistakes. Oh well, practice makes perfect eh ^-^ i will retry tomorrow

Sorry guys, i had to move. I moved to Edmonton Alberta looking for work, and found nothing, so i moved to Banff and am now working at the 4 diamond resort hotel the Rimrock hotel. I am working everyday, but my roomate have a nice setup including tv and all that good stuff. My apologies for not keeping in touch, there is no computer where i am at, just an internet cafe which i don't have the money for yet. Anyways, im gonna go through it again on my next day off, which is in 2 days. Again, i apologize for not keeping in touch and i didn't forget, just got sidetracked big time ^-^. I will let you know of how my results turn out.

i think you should go for _time only_ (skip 100%). but that is what i would prefer, not up to me :)

No worries, that sucks about joblessness... Thanks for the update ;) Just make sure you're happy with the result. Don't feel pressured into banging a run out right quick without the proper refinement you know it will take to have a run last for any substantial amount of time :) Good luck on the attempt.

Heh, alright, now i am not sure if i should bother trying for 100%. I know that it would be a faster run if i skip the 100% but i also believe that it would lose alot of interest. Its not easy to try for all the powerups in a certain amount of time. So when i am done work, i will give it another go for 100% and see how things go, i will let you know if i will continue to try for 100% or just a pure timeattack after a few more runs. I hope my results continue to improve, last run was only improved by 16 seconds, but i did have interuptions.

I'd prefer to see a max-level run (you can't call it 100% without gettng all chips, so..) over any other speedrun of the game but that's just my opinion. You could even segment it by saving between levels and then optimising the levels individually.

Hehee, sorry i didn't post in a long time on this, i have been working away at it, but i am now able to do this on my computer cause i have a cable card. Much better than sending it to someone through video tape eh ^-^. Anyways, my new time is 3:43. The way i did is, there are many improvements i can make, cause i got hit alot, sometimes purposely, but the majority out of my own stupidity. I am not as good at this game as i used to be. I will try to go for a shorter run, but it may take me awhile again to get it to look good. Sorry for the wait and if anyone is interested in this run as it is so far to get an idea of how it will look, let me know and i will go on msn or AIM and send it to you sometime. Thanks for encouraging me to try this game and i hope to do better!

Whew, with work and all, i don't have the time to make this run any better, maybe i will pick it up again sometime in the future. Would anyone like to see the movie as it is? It is FAR from perfect and i didn't do as well as i could/should have but i didn't die, and i did get everything except one backup chip which i can't believe i missed, i feel like an idiot cause it is an easy thing to pick up along the way. If anyone wants it, let me know so i can go to the internet cafe and send it to you.

I wouldn't mind seeing it as is. I'm going to assume you know about decent video compression; if you could find somewhere to host it that's good, otherwise you could hop on IRC (link is in the board header) and DCC send them. Could set up a torrent for it too, if you'd like.

I'd also like to see it. My msn is the same as my email address: admiraljonb@aol.com if you want to send it that way, or just go on the irc channel. i've never been in there before though.
