Hey all. I'm new here to the forums. I am having a problem with recording videos using FCEUX 2.1.5. Here is the problem: I am trying to record a movie, then capture it for an .avi file. I am using this guide: -Pause the emulator. -Select "Replay Movie" from the File Menu and select the movie file -If you intend to capture beyond the final frame of the movie file, make sure "Pause after Playback" (Config Menu) is not checked. -Select "Record AVI" in the File menu. -Select a file location and the video codec you wish to use. -Unpause the emulator. -When capturing is complete, pause the emulator and select "Sop AVI" in the File Menu. When I try to replay the movie I captured, it does not work. I have my game genie codes on when I record, but when I want to replay the movie, I turn them off and the movie does work, but it's all messed up. The effects for the codes are not working, and the movements are not matching. The only thing I could do that seems to work is to record straight to .avi. The problem with that is the video is completely uncompressed, and the file is HUGE. Does anyone know the correct compression option? Here are the choices for compression: Full frames (uncompressed) Microsoft RLE Microsoft video 1 Intel IYUV codec Intel IYUV codec (Yes, it gives this option twice for some reason) Cinepack codec by radius. There is also a compression quality slider that is set to 75 (When I chose microsoft video 1). If anyone knows what a good setting is, please let me know. I want to record a full video of gameplay with out having to break it into parts. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. -Sabrewolf

-.-' If you record with Game Genies codes on (which I think that they are crap), then you should replay with Game Genies codes on too. And about the codec, try Lagarith Lossless Codec or Camstudio codec.

I tried to replay with the game genie codes on, and it came out scrambled and did not play. I don't have the option for camstudio codec of lagarith codec. Only the options i mentioned. I can record straight to AVI, but the files are at least a gig in size.

I have camstudio on my computer, but I have a laptop and when I record, there is no sound. Also, looked for the "lossless codec" and could no find it. *EDIT* Never mind, I found it. I'll give that a try. Thanks

Not sure what you mean, but I have a game genie.nes rom that I had to put in my folder. It's always on, so when you load up a rom, the genie is there, just like when you had a nintendo. It's cool.

after you've installed that, it should show up on your list of available codecs for video capture

How about now?
Thanks for the link. Hopefully this will fix my problem. All I want to do is make one long playthrough vid without it breaking into parts.

Ok well I downloaded the lossless codec and tried to replay my movie with the codes turned on, and no good. Damn it, this is getting frustrating... I'm gonna try to record with the codes on, and then turn them off and play the movie and see what happens.

It's under the .avi section, and works. The problem is the file size. I want the file size to be smaller than 1 gig. Plus, I'm talking about recording a .fm2 movie with the emulator, then replaying the movie and recording an avi file. When I try to replay the .fm2 file, it does not work. So I can't capture the .avi. If I record straight to .avi, it works, but the game is laggy as hell, and the file is huge and gets broken into parts.

For smallest filesize, makesure camstudio is on gzip compression level 9 (it's in the codec options).
