Hi. This is a new run of Windows Spyman that, requested by turska, completes the game using the correct 50 fps setting. There is also an improvement of 988 frames which is a lot more then I expected. It looks like only 2 seconds because the game is now running at 50 fps.
  • Hourglass-r81 was used
  • Heavy glitch abuse
  • Genre: Platform
Sorry for the small text. But check out my previous submission for more info on tricks used. Enjoy.

turska: Judging.

turska: Replaced movie file at the author's request. The new movie is 140 frames faster.

turska: Why are Ikiki's games so fabulous? Accepting for publication.

natt: Processing

I don't understand how switching to 50 frames-per-second aids in TASing this game. I figure there's something that isn't as arbitrary as most games, but, I'd like to know what it is.

50 fps is the game's natural frame rate.

Is it conducive to better gameplay at all, or was the change made just for the natural frame rate's sake? I assume the character moves at the same real-time speed either way, which is why so many frames were cut since the last submission of Spyman.

The movement speed (by time) is not affected. But smoothness of motion should have improved slightly as number of lag frames has been cut from about one in six to about zero. The extra framerate above 50fps will show up in this game as lag.

Would someone be able to provide an encode, please? I liked the previous submission for this game, but I'm unable to watch this movie from the emulator. Thank you!
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I found an improvement near the end of the movie. Here is a very rough demonstration. Once you've implemented the improvement, just post the movie in this thread and I'll replace the submitted file.

Ok, turska, I saved 40 frames from your run. I'm going to look through my run for any minor improvements before posting, ok?

Syncs on hourglass r81 (no vm, w7 64)

Audio situation is the same as Nikujin (not surprising, as they use the same engine); with the correct midi device, the run will sync in stock hourglass and play midi while doing it. In order to capture correctly time-synced midi for publication though, I need to use a somewhat different build. I'll publish this with music soon-ish if someone else doesn't step in first.

The original download link to the game is dead, but I managed to save it from the Internet Archive, which helpfully kept it. I'm posting a mirror here for anyone in the future that wants to TAS this game or encode this movie. https://mega.nz/file/HtFCVDCK#3LXZ3jdI0fqWlT0snGD6JR2G43IC6XyiUsYBTi3uCtg
