Well hi there, I made a TAS and would like to share. It's Castle of Dragon aka Dragon Unit!!!
Btw, I wasn't sure what to call the game, because the version I played is called Dragon Unit, but worldwide name is Castle of Dragon. So I listed what FBA calls it.
  • Emulator used: FBA-rr v007
  • One Player in a multiplayer game
  • Is much better than the terrible NES port
  • Doesn't die even though it would save time

Why One Player?

Obviously you see me collecting boots. These boots make our hero very fast. However, we can't give all the boots to 1p in the multiplayer, because that would make the screen NEVER scroll because 2 player would always have to catch up. The only time 2 player may save time is in the boss fights near the end, where speed isn't nessescary, but I figured it wouldn't make a true 1 player run. If people are against this, I can redo the end of the movie.

Why No Death?

When you hit and enemy and die, it causes much damage. I could've used this to kill the last boss faster, but I don't think TASVideos approves of dying in Arcade games, and it looks worse and doesn't save much time.

Details

All enemies and chandeliers and stuff are fixed with powerup drops, this makes it very easy to determine where the boots are. Also, some weapons affect more then others to certain enemies.

Other Stuff

I don't think this run should obsolete the NES version, both have totally different mechanics, gameplay, and levels.
I'll add more stuff later...

Well that was short, noisy, and chaotic. There's a lot of fighting in the last stage; I do personally think that it'd be better to bring in a second player there, but it's not a dealbreaker. It seems like the throwing axe has a much slower rate of attack than the sword. I'm guessing the damage it deals makes up for it?

I could've sworn Castle of Dragon was unplayable in FBA, last I checked. It's definitely much better than the NES version. Alas, I have to vote No on this one for Optimization reasons, because the longplay beats stages 4 and 6 faster than you do.

Hmm. Ill have to look in to why the boss dies quicker - I even had the same weapon. Well, I'll be back...
