this run actually completes on 11:08 but frame count was lower than published movie.this happens because pal emulation speed is slower than published movie.
I don't know if this is publishable or too slow

Nach: I am replacing the submission file with an improved and more compatible submission file from adelikat.
The following changes are made:
  • Needless reset removed, which causes desyncs on more recent versions of FCEUX.
  • FCEUX version changed to 2.1.5, use of 2.0.0 is discouraged.
  • PAL flag properly set, and time is now 11:07.95.

Nach: I don't see a demand for having a PAL version alongside the NTSC versions. The PAL version is significantly slower. Rejecting for wrong version.

Hi I watched your run, but it randomly resets on the bird boss thing near 25K and stays at the menu while the movie is playing. Which emulator version of FCEUX did you use ?

I'm not familiar with the game. Is there a reason why PAL is chosen?

I use fceux 2.0.0 pal was choose only on european version since it runs too fast(this movie will complete on 9 mins only if pal is off)

If I remember correctly, unless there is a material difference in the various versions of the game, only the (U) and (J) versions should be used, not (E). This game was released in Japan and the US, so I imagine those versions do exist.

theres too many lags in stage 4 but i found new strategy that optimized it (i can't add this stuffs on submission message some acess blocked pop up)

there is some good and bad reason about (e) rom goods: faster blade slashing faster blade boosting l+r jumping bads: have to wait intro double time slower game speed(only applicable when PAL is on)

^ Great post there, also why do we need a E version run again? Also from what I am understanding you need to turn PAL emulation off to view the run, which may have been fine when runs of this game were first made, but why should we allow it now?

I won't vote yet until I see an encode, but it's probably a no vote, as this run is about 1:20 slower than the currently published one done in (J): http://tasvideos.org/948M.html Please read the submission text there for various differences. Also, http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5724 is a short thread about the different versions. Unless there is a special shortcut or trick, (E) should not be used. I'll leave that discussion to people more familiar with the game. EDIT: My mistake. I don't follow this game, but apparently there are special considerations for this one. However, can you please write a more in-depth description in the submission text? State your improvements, why (E) is used, and also the exceptions to the normal rules concerning different roms. Then people don't have to question the version and debate over it again.

The submission file has been replaced with one which has the PAL flag properly set, and runs at 50Hz. The movie this is trying to obsolete is [948] NES Shadow of the Ninja (Japan) "1 player" by klmz in 09:48.32.

Just to double-check: if this movie were played at NTSC speed, which is 6/5 times as fast as PAL, would the the movie length instead come out to 9:15? In that case, this would be roughly a 30-second improvement over klmz's run. I'm definitely looking forward to checking this out.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Please see the discussion thread linked to from my previous post about the previous movie where it discusses this already. They designed the PAL version to seem about the same speed as its NTSC counterparts, so there's less frames involved in doing stuff, although walking is overall slightly slower in PAL. If you cheat by running the PAL version faster, then yes, it saves 20-30 seconds over an NTSC run, but then all the character movements are was way faster than on NTSC.

Ok, after watching this movie, it seems alright but a little questionable. Fewer grenades are used in bosses: as a result, Boss 2 looks worse, but maybe Boss 4 is better (I haven't done the timing to know for sure). The beginning of Stage 4 looks a little better, maybe. I'm also curious about time comparisons in the final boss. It seems pretty clear that the more you can manipulate the boss to rush forward, the longer he stays on the ground, and I don't remember if klmz or Marx had better luck with that boss.
