Submission Text Full Submission Page
Monopoly NES has been TASed multiple times on TASVideos, and out of all of them, the 30.03 second one by Acmlm reigned victorious. Until now.
This uses the built-in Game Editor to set my cash to $1,501 and uses the menu to end the game. I know that this is not the accepted way to do it in most people's books, but at least I'm trying.
(Note to encoders: Set the emulator to pause at frame 971, which will show the TAS, and a few seconds of the ending screen.)

Noxxa: I'll handle this one as well.
JWinslow23: I have decided to cancel this submission for reasons explained by many of you in the forum.

It's great that you're trying but your 'run' has to be somewhat entertaining.

Omg. Voting yes because huge improvement on a run that we'd never thought could be improved. So yes vote. Voting yes. Did I mention monopoly on NES.

Two different people submitting two different runs of the same game, with the same frame count, with very similar methods, on the same day? What are the odds?
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. Obvious troll submission. Even Google doesn't know who the alleged author is.

[Joke]At least this isn't exactly identical to the run DevanWolf submitted. JWinslow23 sets his own cash to $1501 instead of setting the computer's cash to $1499.[/Joke] Seriously though, no vote. On a side note, this run might be improvable by selecting the prepared game at the game editor screen instead of setting your cash to 1 more than the CPU's, but I'm too lazy to actually test it.
My user name is rather long, feel free to call me by htwt or tape.

I chuckled. This isn't publishable, but it was a fun idea. Probably should have saved this for April fools though.

I know Mario Party 2 allows you to have up to 4 CPUs battle each other. But I think it can only be done in Story mode.

#3721: JWinslow23's NES Monopoly "shortest input time" in 00:07.25
#3719: devanwolf's NES Monopoly "Game Editor setting player's cash to $1499" in 00:07.25
.....You know it's not the "shortest" if the time matches that of another run, right?

I really had no idea that DevanWolf would be posting his run right after mine (which I modeled after his YouTube video, "Monopoly GameEditor speedrun in 07.39".) Seriously, what are the odds?
If I could have a tool-assisted real life, I'd... Being a novice, I'd probably load the wrong state, have the IRS AI bankrupt me, and eventually make me want to kill myself and redo 11 years of hard work.

Actually, he submitted his run about half a day before you submitted yours.

Well, I signed up only a day ago, and unlike you, I don't frequently check for new submissions on here!

@SmashManiac, I'm the author. My YouTube channel is robknightfilms, and I modeled this off of a slower run by devanwolf1.

Either way, what made you believe this run would have a chance of getting published? Some people (based on youtube comments) already believe TAS's are cheating. If this run were to be published, it would be kinda like confirming those people's belief. :P

His run was on the Workbench for 18 hours before you submitted yours. You're saying you didn't check the Workbench or the homepage even once in roughly a day, just to make sure no one else decided to submit an improvement to a very short but improvable recently submitted run?

In any case, I think that "beating" monopoly like this is cheating, tas or no, and don't think it should be published. Not a no vote, but only because the system still considers me a lurker (and I haven't watched this, either). --Arek
