Any chance of letting Bisqbot take a crack at it? It would only need to be a few seconds of gameplay, which is what it really seems to excel at.

I dont think it's possible. It might work if you make the turtle walk all the way to the edge of the second platform, hit it forwards and hit your head off the top of the next platform in order to travel faster when falling and hit the shell in the air to reach the next platform. I really dont think it would work, but I think that's probably the way you would get the closest.

Why are you giving up? I thought you had made it...

How in the world could you possibly make it over that gap without running? the closest you can get is by walking into the shell when you place it at the very right edge of the platform and then bouncing off it. It doesn't get you enough distance though. I don't see how you could do it.

andrew, you hit the koopa over to the platform on the left (jumping on him in midair) then i was trying to get the magic koopa trick to work, but to no avail. Ill try again later maybe...

I had been thinking about that too. Is it because you cannot get to that hole? If that's the case you could try using my backwards jump thing so that the screen does not scroll as far. I'm sure it doesn't help.

Check my 5:00 run out in my profile. In 4-2 I perform this glitch. If you jump backwards into a wall (in this case the platform) The screen does not scroll. Mario moves forward and the screen statys stationary. It moves you forwards a very small amount.

The only way to do that is to be holding B though, isn't it?

It works when your walking too. I'm pretty sure of that.

Hmm, here's a trick I hadn't seen before. http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=UpgXPt907oI I don't understand it quite yet, but I would suppose it might help the walkathon, gaining this extra platform from an enemy somehow.

It looks like it might have to do with the sprites for the points earned for defeating enemies overlapping. Notice how careful the player was to kill the Bullet Bills along a single column of tiles--I'd wager that the old Mario 1 engine doesn't erase the sprites for the numbers earned by jumping on enemies. Can anyone confirm this?

That might actually work for this speedrun. I am not understanding it either. you have to hit the enemies in the exact location I guess? Can you do that with koopas? Does it only work at that one level?

Here's a question: does that glitch work in the NTSC version of SMB, or is it exclusive to the PAL version used in that video?

You can't walljump from the back-end of the screen, can you? No, you can't. Because if you could, it *might* be possible to scroll the screen as far forwards as possible, then gain the necessary height that way. No, nevermind. That would never work.

The submitter comment claims it works in all versions. To me it looks like the thing turned into one of those tethered platforms.

I made a speed run of Level 0-1. Can I have permission to submit it on to here?

You need to complete the whole game in order to submit, except in very special cases. I don't think this is one of them.

You won't get an answer here, that's against the rules.

I found an odd glitch while playing on Nestopia. The final bowser hit Mario right as Mario hit the ax. Mario died, Bowser died, and Peach thanked no one. This got me thinking about other glitches. Then a thought hit me. Walk through walls to speed up the run! When Mario is inside a wall, he automatically starts scrolling right. If it were possible to get inside the wall just before the final Bowser, then movie end, it would significantly speed up the warps runs.

I found something odd while reading this topic. As if this topic was totally unnecessary. Then a thought hit me. Post this in the already existing SMB thread! When you post in the existing topic, it'll attract more attention (considering the popularity of that topic), that way, your thought could be read by more people. If you done this (in all other cases too), it'd cause less people to be annoyed and significantly less cluttering.
