If it were possible to get inside the wall just before the final Bowser, then movie end, it would significantly speed up the warps runs.
I'm not really following you... How would you get a faster time?

"When you post in the existing topic, it'll attract more attention (considering the popularity of that topic)," I'm guessing this is not true. I'm guessing a lot more people read his post now than what would otherwise have been the case.

I guess it might be a faster time in terms of ceasing controller input, but probably not in terms of actually reaching the princess as fast as possible. But first let's see someone do it!

What Chamale means is that you end input early since getting inside a wall will make you walk automatically into the point where you finish the game. This is similar to that Castlevania run by Morrison where he damage boosts so he can end input early.

No because the rule states that movie must stop when Mario hits the axe.

Mario does, but the screen doesn't.

AKA stopped input early on a Sonic 1 run, and everyone bitched and moaned about that. Something about making the avi longer. I don't see how it could be done for the final bowser in this game anyway.

The exact termination point is subject to debate. We have seen these options: Ending the movie as soon as possible (when no further input is needed to complete the game) [...] Phil’s favourite is #1. We do not currently have an enforced rule on this question
The times they are a-changin'. About possibility, here's how you would get into the wall: Go into that wall he's standing on. Maybe Bisqbot or Basicbot could figure this one out somehow...

Seems a pretty cheap way to get a slightly faster input end, but actually make it take longer to finish the game. Also, input entered after the end of the movie will likely prevent the game from finishing.

Umm, actually, wouldn't Mario fall into the pit if he goes through the wall? You only can go under a tile, not through a middle of a tile.

True, but more importantly, as I posted previously, the screen does not scroll without Mario walking to the right. Ejection does not count as walking. If Mario is ejected to the screen right edge, he's just stuck there.

If you want to end SMB with Mario being terminally stuck in the right edge of the screen, you needn't look further but the 1-1 stage. You can do so in the bonus cave. Or, in 1-2: interrupt the movie when Mario enters the wall. Or 4-2, similar. No, I don't see a rule change.

Ditching the dumb in this thread, .... How would you save time with this? The ax (from what I remember) is nowhere you can just 'zombie scroll" to... I don't see how it can save time. Perhaps a demonstration image is in order?

For a quick test: What byte shows either X-location or Y-location?

It's not possible. My assumption was that you could go past the axe. But it doesn't load Princess Peach and her area until the axe is hit.

Guys, I wanted to download the Super Mario Bros game on my PC. Do we have such download links or executables for installing Super Mario Bros games on my PC. I once had played on a video game and I now want to play it on my PC. I don't know what the version is exactly but here's the link that contains level maps of it. http://ian-albert.com/misc/smb.php It's a two player game Mario and Luigi. Hope to hear soon.

Links to ROMs aren't allowed in this forum. Just do a google search on it.

Just to make sure you get the right ROM, it's called "Super Mario Bros. (JU) (PRG0) [!].nes"

*Megabump* I was randomly watching a mostly unrelated video on Youtube when the author mentioned a potentially useful glitch. Apparently, if you do the minus world glitch but enter the second pipe instead of the pipe to minus world, you end up at 5-1. The immediate question is whether you can reach the 5-2 warp zone faster than the 4-2 warp zone.

1-1 1-2 4-1 4-2 8-1 8-2 8-3 8-4 is shorter than 1-1 1-2 5-1 5-2 5-3 5-4 6-1 6-2 6-3 6-4 7-1 7-2 7-3 7-4 8-1 8-2 8-3 8-4. There is no warp zone in 5-2.

He's thinking of the Lost Levels, I suppose. I wonder if anything like that could be used in the Lost Levels to get to world 5 fast?

I already tried a while back, though, and it didn't work. I inched my way to the right side of the screen by jumping up halfway under bricks during the level so that they'd force me to the right little by little as I went along, thereby getting me closer to the right screen edge. Went to the world 2 warp and went in the pipe before the WELCOME TO WARP ZONE text could appear, and it only took me...uh, actually I can't remember whether it was back outside or to the bonus area. But it didn't warp me to a different world, anyway. :p

Just wondering, is it possible to glitch into the blocks like those seen at the end of 1-1. I've tried for ages and I keep getting ejected the wrong way :(
