Post subject: Playing .Jar games?

Is this possible? I've used a converter to change it to an executable, but no luck.

Wouldn't a .Jar file run through the JRE (Java Runtime Executable)?

i have to think that the JVM uses enough nasty system calls and threading related stuff to not function correctly inside of hourglass
