About the run

This is an improvement Version of My TAS. 10416frame was updated. This is based on new zipping glitch.

Tricks

New zipping glitch

It will reproduce , if screen outside LVUP at a place with a screen change. In order to make it reproduce by the skill of axe, a certain necessity for a change is upside a screen. Furthermore, a return place needs to be in a wall. This place can attain this condition early most.

Note

  • The soul of balore does not acquire. This is needed for carrying out additional acquisition 300F, and is because it is later than the time of un-acquiring.
  • This glitch can be used also by Julius Mode.Since it can go to Mine of judgement, without setting a flag, julius mode tas should be able to also be updated sharply.

Special thanks

  • McBobX: TAS which took in new movement was created first.
  • gocha: Most technology currently used by this TAS is built by him. Moreover,it was exerted for the improvement of DeSmuME.You could not make this TAS without him.
  • Kriole: Technology shown by 100% soul TAS , such as a random number method of preparation and motion cancellation, was greatly consulted. Moreover, it is referring to a part of course of this TAS.
  • KAZU:New zipping gliche used for updating this TAS was discovered.

Noxxa: Judging.

The basis of the glitch is, when you reach a room for the first time you write 'visited' into an array that is as large as the map. But if you reach a room that is out of bounds the game writes 'visited' into arbitrary locations in memory, overwriting things like what souls you have, whether Menace has been beaten or not and so on. In game time must be one of them.

Awesome new glitch! I think the run is a little less entertaining though, since I liked seeing Balore and Dimitri getting beaten. (I also don't really like the music in the area where you do the glitch.) However, the speed gain is definitely worth it. Concerning the Julius run, wasn't that run also meant to be more of a chance to show off all the bosses and use fewer glitches? I mean, it can get much faster using the glitch... I'm not sure if it should, though. Perhaps a new Julius run with the zipping glitch should be a separate category.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. If worst comes to worst, there's always 'all souls' for seeing the whole game in play.

This game keeps getting snapped into more and more pieces. Good stuff, though. :)

So, no bosses (other than Flying Armor) are fought at all now? No Balore, no Dimitrii, etc. I imagine it's just a matter of time before even Flying Armor is somehow skipped.

He takes some potion, rockets into the sky, and then breaks everything. It wouldn't be a modern Castlevania TAS with out major breaks.
When TAS does Quake 1, SDA will declare war. The Prince doth arrive he doth please.

If I'm encoding this again (most likely), warn me before you make a new run, which could possibly be 2 minutes long (if it's possible to kill more time). <3 I have no further comment besides...

You can witness this timer corruption in realtime using the Succubus warp glitch (activate Succubus, wait a couple of ticks, activate the special effect of a teleporting dagger into offscreen, zip like mad). The one thing I would really love to see in one of these TASes (and I know it can happen because it has happened to me) is for the game to start off in Soma mode and end in Julius mode. However, I have no information as to where that particular flag is, so I can only dream. As for a 100% all souls run, well, if you stay out of bounds long enough and trigger all of the right places, ... (sorry, Kriole).
I am still the wizard that did it. "On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." -- Satoru Iwata <scrimpy> at least I now know where every map, energy and save room in this game is

This makes me think that a Dawn of Sorrow playaround has the potential to be ridiculously cool :D

Unfortunately, the sprite doesn't change; you're still Soma (though, I'm sure some trickery could manage that too). You just get the Julius-mode "Lv <x>" in the corner of the screen, and can't look at the submenus anymore.

About the Soma mode end in Julius mode thing, actually gocha made this type of thing long time before, but it was only uploaded to Niconico douga and only included the last boss fight, which is between Dracula Soma and Human Soma, which is hilarious. Well, input file is provided so you can watch the whole run by yourself. Honestly I think the reason of not including the whole run in the encode is it would take quite long to alter the mode flag. I don't know if I can post the whole link, so only the nico video code sm12594401

I do believe that just made my day, thank you. It would still be nice to see it as a TAS, low-level, lots of souls, really fast, from A to B, but that tides me over nicely. (Also, I like how that grants the best ending instead of the Julius mode ending.)

Link to video Another half-minute saved. This game has now officially beaten Portrait of Ruin in shortness.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I find that Nico run a little less interesting to watch, but goodness it's surprising. Does this mean we're getting a new submission soon?
