I'm assuming that backwards jumps are faster, so I am voting yes for this. I didn't really mind the pipe entry. I probably wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been mentioned. And yes, the backwards swimming was awesome. There was also two enemies that I think you could have gotten, but I'm not sure. A flying koopa at the start of 8-1 (though I think that it was a bit to far from the ledge to hit), and the goombas on the stairs in 8-2. Maybe also the mushroom (?) block at the end of 1-2 could have been hit. Still really good though.

It sures is less sloppy than Mana's did, otherwise how could I be faster than him? Maybe the pipe at stage 1-1 is sloppy but was INTENTIONAL to collect points and it's NOT slower. Concretely, it looks sloppy but abstractedly, that's not the case since it was more clever to collect points when possible like I have read in Mana's SMB1 topic. When I think of somebody that does the same thing as me but only correct that 1-1 pipe and my video rejected or replaced because of that, makes me feel discouraged because I know it can't be faster except if someone could find an unknown bug which I highly doubt. A sub 5 minutes is probably impossible. In my opinion, it's impossible but I may be wrong. P.S. Anyway 5 minutes it's a nice number ;)

Long time I haven't said it's impossible to beat. The last time I said so was the Contra movie by Genisto. I was wrong and was lacking of timeattacks experience. Sometimes I say "hard to beat" or "almost impossible to beat" but it's not the same as impossible to beat. Anyway I never said my video is impossible to beat but to reach 4:59 or lower is impossible to achieve. To reach 4:49, you must do 44 frames faster than me and stop the movie earlier like in my video. 44 frames, it's a lot.

The flying koopa was lower than in Michael and Mana's movie. So Mario could not reach the wall. Goombas on stairs!? Hmm I haven't tested it that much but at first, it seems to only slow down Mario because he hit the stairs. In my next version, I will test it a bit more. :) The mushroom (?) block at the end of 1-2. Due to some lag, 1 frame is lost when doing this but well, it surely doesn't care since that multiple of 21 thing makes the movie nor slower nor faster.

awsome movie!, i agree with bisquit, the movie should end at the point that the game is completed not when user input is not required. the monopoly movie is a good example, at about 35 seconds the movie stops but it shouldnt be considered completed until 52 (i think?) when the computer player actually goes bankrupt. stopping your movie sooner only makes is appear to be faster, it doesnt mean you actually improved the run. but by definition if, after fixing the ending, it is still faster then it has to be accepted. BECAUSE ITS FASTER.

As others have mentioned already, you could have jumped to the pipe in 8-4 backwards. I never bothered testing it myself since it looks so much faster so I assumed it must be faster, so unless you tested it and it ends up that I was wrong all this time I don't think it should be accepted the way it is now. You should also make the coin room in 1-1 look better. Why couldn't you just press left as you were falling to enter the pipe more smoothly? Btw, I have a suggestion for your final version. Besides when you need to go higher to get coins or kill enemies, always make your jumps as low as possible. Edit: I have a question about how you start the levels. Do you turn around by pressing left for 1 frame, or do you press left and right simultaneously during that 1 frame (or does it not make a difference)?

You are right and wrong. At the moment, it seems faster but in fact it is not. The problem here is when you enter a pipe at some timeunits, then exiting the pipe, the timer sets it to to next timeunit with new and fresh 24 frames. Ex. You enter a pipe at 375 with 2 frames faster than someone else that also enters a pipe at 375 timeunit, you and him will restart at 374 timeunits and must wait 24 frames before it goes to 373. But you are saying that if you enter a pipe 2 frames earlier, you will exit 2 frames earlier. That's not true. The black screen when changing section will last 2 frames longer than the other guy. If you don't understand, you should read my earlier post for how those 21 frames rule works. Anyway, it looks cooler even if it's not faster. You should also make the coin room in 1-1 look better. I don't care about the "sloppy" pipe entering at 1-1 and the backward jumping, in my opinion, was just hilarious. But what makes me even more satisfied, is that Phil and Genisto are trying to improve this timeattack again! I also hope, that someone will find another new glitch to use it as advantage I'm looking forward it. Hell of a timeattack, Voted for Yes.
