Oh goodie. Oh boy. Oh, shoot me now.

Teh Stuff:

  • Bios: SCPH1001 (NTSC bios)
  • Hardest Difficulty
  • Goes for in-game time
  • Goes for speed instead of entertainment aka going for Vault - If people find this entertaining then I'm pleased and I should shut up
  • lua used + created

Note:

When you're looking at the round times you will see spike times which means it's higher than 1.68, this is due to changing the input as it's either due to the AI charging or AI ducking during the slap or that the AI hits when Spinning Harakiri.

Quick Rundown on previous TASes:

The First submission used Law and had an in-game time of 1'43"81
The next submission used King which had an in-game time of 1'25"93
The third run (which was not submitted) used Yoshimitsu with an in-game time of 50"28.
This is a 35"98 TAS which uses the fastest moves of Yoshimitsu to finish of the fights.

Possible Improvements (with the joys of RNG):

  • During the first round with Lei it's possible to finish him in 147 frames (32 frame improvement) but all the frames are lost when you reach the first round of King.
  • Round 2 of Jun was only forced as there was no way to hit her faster.
  • Somehow it's possible to finish a round in 99 frames... which cannot be replicated anywhere else.
  • Shark Attack is the fastest move BUT when done on hard mode it's the easiest move to avoid.
  • Please, please, please, please, PLEASE! if you think you can improve on my errors complete the whole TAS it's a painful TAS to complete as it takes a long time to do.

Special thanks:

Cooljay for telling me to submit it, even if I doubted on the time.
FractalFusion for providing a Nico version.

I'm sorry if I disappointed anyone except for true.
By the way I voted meh

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: While the run is improvable at a few points, it's already known an improvement is being worked on. For the mean time, this run is (just barely) good enough for publication. Accepting to the Vault.

have little not good. In some rounds (example Lei) you didn't start with punch for best time. In future, with a TASer use luck manipulation for enemy control, maybe your run will get beat

I already know what I'm talking about, I was already aware of the issues. I was able to fix this issue... only to create a major issue down the track. There was also this in the submission text:

Yes vote! The battles were so short (as too for the run itself) that it never got dry or boring. The double KO was a great surprise and changed things up well.

Hi Spikestuff! I was watch your movie and little tried by myself. I found other way can change luck you didn't use. When start round, at freeze time (10-11 frames before end freeze time), press actions buttons can change luck If you really want try improve this then I'll go with you :D

I'll let Moth decide if this run should go up... because trying to make each round 99 frames will take a lot of time. I've sent you something in the PM so have a look at that.

Looking at the votes one could think this is indeed a Vault case. But please read the thread and see how amused were those who voted yes.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I understand the amusement for viewers who've played this game, but since I've never even heard of this game until now, I found it only somewhat amusing the first time he performs a seppuku, and then annoyance after I realize that's pretty much the only thing the TAS shows other than loading screens and guy holding his stomach at the end. :P

Actually I like all fighting game TAS runs, no matter what category it's in. Surely this is fun to watch, at least for me. Yes vote.

This might be the only fighter game where "uses death to save time" would be an appropriate tag.

Technically, the player doesn't die (except maybe the double-KO). Normally, the move would have caused him to die, except that hitting the opponent at the same time somehow allows him to live just barely.

Yeah, I think he's referring to the double KO.

Welcome to the world of TASing. BTW it shouldn't be that much hard judging by your sub text. I guess you don't know any RNG values (since you only wrote "problems" intead factors), it should be a good idea to first understand which actions changes the AI to avoid losing frames.

A very good place to start your investigation. Waiting for SpikeStuff and xxNKxx's PSX Tekken 2.

BTW, if you can manipulate RNG by spamming different button combinations during downtime, you could make a bot to find perfect fights: 1) Start with a savestate at the earliest point when RNG manipulation is possible. 2) Do random button mashing. 3) Do the input for the fastest possible fight. 4) If the opponent's HP hit 0 when you expect it to (read memory), save a savestate and go back to 1). Else, load savestate and try a different random button mashing.

Spiekstuff T.T N?K and I have infact joined up this progress ... This will take a much longer time to complete to try and get the fastest time. While this is being done can someone obsolete this. K, thanks bai.

That takes a much, MUCH longer time. If the AI charges, it's faster.

The run is really impressive and also entertaining for a run which aims for as fast as possible no matter what. It made me smile a couple times, and of course it's fast, so my vote is Yes. Dooty: text edited to remove possibly offensive material.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

If Spikestuff and N?K are working on an improvement, it's perhaps better to cancel this submission and wait for the improvement to be done. Though if that improvement will take a really long time, I guess this submission may be published although we know it's improvable. I'm not sure, it's a bit of a fringe case.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I was actually considering cancelling it but the improvement is definitely going to take a long time to do, I don't know how long. We've spent more then a few days doing fight 2 due to the set RNG and we're still doing that fight.
