iirc, RBA adds some items but removes others, ie impossible to use in 100%...
I'm pretty sure this has been hashed and rehashed in this thread before, but this argument doesn't work because the trading quest also does this.
it seemy you haven't understood, what is meant by "removes items". for example if you do RBA with the "broken bigoron sword" you always delete the light medaillon, which can't be reobtained during the run. thus finishing the game with all items is impossible then. you get what I want to say?

When we were creating the 100% route for real-time, we did not ban RBA. But we never ended up using it - it never ended up saving time. RBA isn't the magic wand people think it is, it has many limitations including item deletion, significant setup time, and more. Things like RBAing the Song of Time or spiritual stones are useless, since you need to get the stones legitimately from the dungeons to get the ocarina of time. Medallion RBA is worthless since it deletes the light medallion, and many items require completing the dungeon legitimately anyways (Prelude of Light, etc). You can't create normal items, eg megaton hammer or fire arrows, using RBA...I'm not sure why everyone thinks you can. Most equipment RBA ends up deleting Kokiri Tunic or Kokiri Boots, both of which cannot be replaced (and no equipment takes long to get anyways...you can't RBA BGS). The only possible use for RBA would be to get bottles, but it was already decided among the zelda community that the big poe quest needed to be completed normally. RBA may have been useful for extra bombchus, or similar things, but it just so happened that it isn't. Re: "trade items get deleted" - in 100%, the ruling is that only the highest tier of each item counts, and it must be in your inventory (not deleted) at the end of the game. For instance, 100% runs skip the Silver Scale, because it is completely worthless and the Gold Scale is easy to get. 100% runs also skip Goron Bracelet and Silver Gauntlets. This is not going to get changed, so please don't start a debate over this, I'm just informing people who don't know the ruling.

I just had an idea for a future TAS. What if you hover across the gap to ganons castle to skip the rainbow bridge cutscene? The cutscene is 35 seconds long. It takes about 8 chu sideflip hovers to get across the gap, and I assume regular bomb + kokiri boots hovers would get the same distance. A TAS might even be able to cut it down to 7 bombs. Each hover takes about 4 seconds so thats 32-28 seconds, and since a TAS can pull out the first bomb so that it explodes exactly when needed, that could cut more time making it a 28-24 second hover. Add the time to get~10 more bombs, ISG and the time to get to the stone arch to start the hover. It would probably be very close either way, but if it is faster it would look much more badass

no, we won't have light arrows on B. if we were still in 2006 we would, but fortunately, those times are over :P

I haven't the foggiest, but your question certainly impressed our IRC goers.

http://zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?game=oot There you'll get some explanations and videos how to do most tricks in the game. The page isn't currently up to date, but most things are still there.

which speaking of light arrows cant we just RBA the light arrows before the cutscene you get them in? because if you can we may be able to skip the cutscene for the light arrows, and then i think we would have to hover over since i dont think the light bridge cutscene would activate

You cannot RBA Light Arrows. You can BA Light Arrows, but that requires Minuet of Forest+Forest Medallion, Hookshot or Bow, Song of Time or Hover Boots+Giant's Knife, Prelude of Light, Megaton Hammer (I think TAS can use a seam trick to skip this, but I'm not sure if that takes ISG or not). It has been looked into, but it isn't worth it.

it's been ages since I last heard anything about OoT. Is there any known improvements at all to Bloobs run? I just watched it again today, and man it's awesome!

Afaik not really. That is pretty optimal. His MST could be improved by a lot, though. There have been loads of things discovered sinc then.

Ok : ) True that. The all temple TAS got me thinking how awesome it would be to see a new non-RBA run of OoT

There are a few known time savers for the any% run. I started an improvement at one point but I haven't worked on it for a while--I may finish it eventually, we'll see. If I do decide to complete it it wouldn't be too long from now.

Hmm any plans on improving your MST TAS? Conservatively speaking you could shave off 30 minutes of that one. Maybe a lot more... MST has loads more tricks than 3 years ago. Only problem is that there is still no mupen with reset and so death warp is still the only way in a few situations. But I don't think that will ever change, so holding off because of that wouldn't make sense...

I'm not sure what you mean, there has been a mupen with reset recording for years (reset was used in the recently submitted Perfect Dark TAS), but maybe you mean soft reset?

Well that one won't help for the Zeldas, since OoT needs one with the pause bug fixed and MM needs one with the deynch issues fixed. (the anti-desynch mupen actually has reset recording in it but it always desynchs the movie. ironic, isn't it?) Afaik there is no unified version and I don't even know if the sources for all these versions are available. Btw. wasn't there a problem with that version of mupen resetting the emulator and not the rom and thus not being accepted by this site? Or did they losen up a little on that rule? And I guess there may even be other problems why this version wasn't used. - Bloob, can you tell us what the poblems are? Edit: The synch issue the Perfect Dark TAS seems to have may have been one of the problems. It's really not good if only the TASer can get it to synch.

"Fun" thing about this is that Dolphin got TAS capabilitys before mupen+ even got to a nearly working state.

it seems that this mupen+ guy is the same kind of a lazy ass like this guy doing that MM TAS :/ bloob, would you mind telling me the improvements for the any% TAS? I'd really like to know them.

Possible small improvement to the ganon fight? (maybe other areas?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-auu0Z-VmE I'm sure this is already being discussed elsewhere.

that won't save time at the ganon fight because you have to hold R for a majority of the ganon cutscene to keep the sword on B. also I'm not sure if he actually runs anytime during that cutscene so there's probably no effect might be useful in other places although I cannot think of where
