HEY LETS ALL SAY WE IGNORE SPIDERWAFFLE BUT STILL BRING HIM UP NOW AND THEN TO REMEMBER EVERYONE HOW STUPID HE IS LOL. But seriously, I have no problem with SW so I don't really care. But if you guys do, stop bringing this topic up all the time. Makes you look quite douchy.

He is absolutely right Synx. You are teasing troublemakers to start ranting about Spider Waffle yet again. No need for that.

Lurker here. For what it's worth I think Spider Waffle is unfairly treated and brings up things that make the community reconsider things and question methods that may just be erroneously accepted as better. He/she won't let an issue rest without sufficient evidence which I think betters TAS development. Improvements aren't made until someone comes up with alternatives, and if an alternative isn't proved to be invaluable it shouldn't be dismissed as easily as they are. I don't actually know what I'm talking about so feel free to think I'm an idiot because I very well might be, but that's just my third party view on the situation.

Or, you know, someone finds a new trick. Spider Waffle has been proved wrong and has a history of coming up with absurd ideas that didn't work, as well as trying to claim credit for things others have found. People don't dislike him because they're too lazy to prove him wrong, they dislike him because he's doesn't know what he's talking about lol.

I can't remember if Ingo will even let you actually race with one of the brown horses, but if he does, I'm pretty sure they're too slow to actually beat him. Beating him triggers a cutscene where he mentions Epona, so I'm pretty sure you can't even race him.

julianface: not to beat a dead horse, but go look at his post history either here or on SDA (where he was also banned). I've actually become convinced he may have some form of autism based on his behavior and attitude. Sad, but it doesn't mean we should tolerate it here, as his presence generally caused negativity and conflict due to his constant and unhelpful/condescending attitude. "Guys, you need to test this. no, I can't test it, I'm no TASer. but test my ideas! why haven't you tested them yet? because they're bad? I still want you to test them. I'm smart, I came up with things, test them!" Let's let the dead horse rest. Any way you spin it, you don't get to demand the testing of your ideas if you aren't willing to do some work yourself. That's just selfish, and it's an insult to the intelligence of the people here who actually TAS the game or at least take the time to plot out and think out routes/tricks/etc. by comparing times from previous runs (he didn't even do that!). I find it very hard to believe you couldn't beat Ingo on a brown horse in a TAS, but I'm sure you guys know better than me. I mean, you just need to horse superslide, right? What, we don't have a way to do that yet? Lame...

Good guess. http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/my_life_revelation.html I wish I had something about OoT to post but the game is pretty stagnant right now as Wind Waker is sweeping up all the Zelda kids at the moment.

Guys, let's all stop now about Spider-Waffle. It's not really productive in any way.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Sorry. Feel free to delete the previous posts if you so please. Back to regular Zelda discussion (in other words, mostly silence until someone finds something new, I suppose).

Does the newly discovered "Hold R LOL" glitch where you can skip most of the adult trading quest have any TAS implications for categories other than 100%? Has anyone good with MHS taken a look to understand this more and see if this can be applied to other NPC-giving-item situations for something crazy like a faster bottle or whatever?

It's a version specific trick. I don't want to start another stupid discussion in this thread, but I don't think it should be allowed (but it's just my opinion).

...huh? There are loads of other games with version specific tricks. For example, the recently published Super Mario Land run uses a trick exclusive to version 1.0 of the game. So, why should it be banned?

OK. Cool then. I thought about it because there was a disscusion about ISG from deku stick on B button earlier on this thread, but it was more like emulation error rather than version difference (it works on emulator, Virtual Console and GameCube but not on N64). Sorry about that. I'm curious if real time speedrunners will use it in 100%. And unfortunately I don't think there will be a 100% TAS in work for some time so we don't have to worry about that yet :(

Which versions does it work on? I doubt anyone would mind if it worked on the N64 version. (The other versions are a rather grayer area.)

It's in the video description on YouTube. N64 v.1.0 and v.1.1.

This will only ever be useful in a 100% TAS, which seems unlikely. Even optimized right now it'd be in the 5-hour range.

It doesn't work on 1.2, so most probably won't, as that is what version the VC uses.

I highly doubt it would take more than 4 hours. There are a lot of skulltullas, but not thaaaat many.

Nice find! =) If there are no negative sideeffects to using v1.0/1.1 of OoT as opposed to 1.2 then I don't see a problem in switching?

They were talking about real-time speedrunners. They have to use the 1.2 version since it's the only one available on the Virtual Console. A 100% TAS would use the JPN 1.0 version, like the other TASes.

Ya that's what I meant. For a TAS this should be a non-issue

In case anyone is wondering why this works on 1.0 and 1.1 only.... 15:46:59 <sockfolder> it seems the eyeball frog thing is basically straight up fixed in 1.2 15:47:18 <sockfolder> the code is actually reasonable 15:47:44 <sockfolder> set a flag on the dialog when showing prescription, clear said flag at the start of zora tunic dialog 15:48:05 <sockfolder> use that flag to decide which item to give 15:48:13 <sockfolder> I don't see a way to trick it 15:48:17 <pheenoh> Do you know why it works in 1.0,1.1 15:48:18 <Wodahs> damn 15:48:28 <sockfolder> the code is totally different in 1.0 15:48:50 <sockfolder> and hilariously bad =p 15:48:51 <pheenoh> I know, I just meant do you know why the collection delay (if that's even it) causes eyeball frog 15:49:00 <sockfolder> yeah 15:49:04 <sockfolder> I mean sorta 15:49:25 <sockfolder> when you stand in the interaction area for kz 15:49:30 <sockfolder> (where you can talk to him) 15:49:41 <sockfolder> it sets a flag every frame 15:49:53 <sockfolder> if you have a trade items < eyeball frog 15:50:14 <sockfolder> when you talk for zora tunic, the flag is cleared 15:50:32 <sockfolder> and if no normal gameplay happens, the flag stays clear until you get zora tunic 15:51:07 <sockfolder> if you delay receiving the item though, then the flag gets set again 15:51:19 <qwerty1605> so they reason this doesn't work on 1.2 is because it is coded completely different? 15:51:20 <sockfolder> and the game thinks you should get the eyeball frog 15:51:29 <sockfolder> yes 1.2 fixes being able to move right before receiving an item, so the flag doesn't get set again.
