The site should obviously reject every 100% of this game and only accept "all permanent flags".
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

Just use the RTA definition, it's clear enough. That is if anybody ever gets crazy enough to actually TAS this.

The TAS would be played on Japanese 1.0, right? Doesn't that let you skip a lot of the trading sequence for the Biggorron sword? I'm pretty sure that's the version ZFG uses in his 100% speed runs.
I'd guess J 1.1. Bomb OI probably comes in handy at some points and I don't think you need the crawl space state anywhere. But I could be wrong. Both versions have eyeballfrog early though.

The boss key in ganons tower is collected, no other one.

Isn't the glitched Bongo kill 1.0 only?

Isn't Blank A a 1.0 glitch? That makes the Bottom of the well a lot faster. If the Glitched Bongo kill is also 1.0 only, then that would be the version to use. (unless there are also 1.1 exclusive glitches)

Almost sure it's possible on 1.1 Blank A is 1.0 only Bomb oi is 1.1 and 1.2 1.1 would definitely be the fastest ROM for 100% TAS (even for RTA actually, don't forget graves ^^)

What is the difference between Bomb OI and doing OI with a bottle? Does that let you skip the bottle in Kakariko at the beginning?

Yes you can skip the bottle in kak but I don't think it's useful However the thing is bomb oi is just faster

The 100% definition has already been established. The reasoning for the definition is clear. Bosskeys, maps, keys and compasses + intermediate upgrades (like the silverscale etc) can not be checked for when completing the game and therefore do not in any way contribute to 100%. The only way to check for these items would be to go back to their respective dungeons (for keys, compasses, maps and bosskeys) or to watch a recording of the run for intermediate upgrades as they are unobtainable after u get the highest upgrade (at least I believe they are). Since there is no 100% counter in the game we use the pause-screen in it's place.

That's just silly. Whether or not something can be checked at the end of the game has no relation to whether it contributes something or not. Whether it's part of the definition or not is another matter.

...Which is not very difficult or time consuming. All one has to do is fast-forward a recording or emulator. Such a check would take but a few minutes if done properly.

If it doesn't have to be "checkable" to contribute to the 100% definition, then do you want all permanent flags in the game to be triggered? Should we kill one of each enemy to contribute to an imaginary "bestiary"? Should one of every item be collected to see the dialogue? For that matter, should all dialogue have to be seen? Even in the metroid community, "checkability" is a huge part of the % definition. That's why there are separate categories for "all scans" in the prime games. If you want a category that doesn't match the current community 100% definition, then you're welcome to create it and TAS it. However, it doesn't seem like that would be the "100%" category, since a community standard for the "100%" category has already been established.

I already explained my definition of 100% (which, again, I really want to reinforce that is just MY OPINION, not an agreed definition by the community) that 100% means collecting colletibles, not raising flags or getting records. I simply stated that it doesn't need to be checkable at the end of the game.

Listen. Someone asked for opinions on what a 100% definition is. I gave an opinion. That's all. I'm not arguing for a new category. I'm not arguing for changing a category. That's all.

It. does. not. matter. If you ask 20 different people, you will get 20 different definitions of 100% for this game. Furthermore, it's not even relevant until someone or some group actually starts making a run, in which case they're going to use their own personal definition anyway. Literally nobody is going to convince anyone else that their 100% is the right one. NEXT TOPIC PLEASE (it would be nice if a mod could prevent pointless 100% discussion from taking up dozens of pages)

So.... who's gonna start TASing 100%? Please don't use Mupen.

there is no reason to worry about that since nobody is TASing this game, much less 100%

Hey if you guys ever have questions about categories and stuff, just go to ZSR (zelda speedruns). There's a treasure trove of information there. Just wanted to mention this since you guys seemed to be having issues regarding 100% definition.

There are no issues. Only differences in opinion. You seem to imply that there is only "one" 100% definition and that that is ZSR's definition, though. Is this what you intended?

are you really trying to revive the debate based on your interpretation of a post from a new member that thought they were helping by pointing to a zelda community-driven resource? Can we not? As others have said now, there's not even a 100% run being started for TASing, so discussing categories would be better done elsewhere anyways...

No, I am not. And I feel like specifically pointing out that my definition was not the only definition discussed.

bombchus ended up being slower didn't it? I thought that was what killed Grunz motivation to TAS any%

New glitch is something like 'Wrong Item' or 'Item Collection Delay'. Tompa's explanation: http://pastebin.com/FqqFQLvA Zfg1's explanation: http://pastebin.com/69Jkkp6r Skater is investigating it on his stream: http://www.twitch.tv/skater82297
