Torje commented about this question in his stream that the TAS would have to use the floor clip inside Deku tree, which is exceedingly difficult to do, even when TASing, and it would essentially be a nightmare to get correctly. I'm not acquainted enough with the technical details to understand why it's so difficult.

For quite a while, the any% route used by RTA runners only worked on VC and emulators with bad plugins. On N64, a specific trick (GIM) crashed the game. For that reason, a TAS of that route on an N64 emulator would have definitely been rejected by this site. The only way for that route to be accepted would have been to TAS the VC version with Dolphin, but such a TAS was never made. Now there is a new version of GIM, which can actually be done on N64. It's just that no one seems to be willing to make a TAS of it.
When did that happen? Are u sure it is possible on N64 now without crashing or losing time compared to doing it without caring if a crash would occur on n64? How is it even possible to do without crashing?

In this thread, a version of GIM with a Deku Stick was mentioned, that would theoretically work on N64.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

that wouldn't be relevant for any% as far as I know. I wouldn't mind getting proved wrong though

You can GIM light arrows on N64. That's about the only usefull GIM on there.

811DB95A A1B4 I have been using this code for Link and he does various sound effects that are in the game, some unused. The last 4 digits can be changed to any value. Most values make Link glitchy on ladders (He would float somewhere random looking mest up and it would be impossible to control him.) Also, walls don't stop Link as much since he can clip through them a little. A4E8 is the default value for Adult link but I've been trying other values. So what happens to Link with this code? My other question is what is the cheat editor that can be used in the inventory in 1.2? I have the code for the 1.0 version of Oot.

It's been years now since we are looking for a way to do All Dungeons No Doors. We knew we were really close to get it and the only problem was to reach Twinrova because it's not right after the loading zone of the boss door. Theories came out that it was possible to FW dive in Goron City but no one managed to get it... Until this day Link to video

Great run! A bit of a shame about the graphical emulation glitches, but I guess those can't be helped with the GIM glitch only working on a specific plugin, as the author explained. I kinda wish some video editing could be done to replace those glitchy sections with how it should normally look. I think the run looked optimal enough.

Does it play back on console? If so, the console output would be better. (If not, the run is arguably dubious anyhow.)

GIM crashes on N64 but not on Virtual Console. I don't know if there's a way of testing runs on VC or not.

I'm highlighting this because it implies that the run might not be accepted even if it were submitted due to GIM. I'm honestly rather happy it didn't get submitted because that would be a solid MONTH of drama.

There were quite a few parts where multiple seconds were lost, not just frames. This run is a nice proof of concept, but imo not submission quality. It's a moot point anyway. The judges have said multiple times that they won't accept something that isn't possible on a real console. So for a GIM run to be published here it has to be TASed on Dolphin.

That is probably the best newcommer TAS for OoT I have seen since Adebishi. I think this TASer is showing great potential. The only reason I still say Adebishi was better is because this new TASer uses GIM. I still don't get the appeal of GIM. It's an emulation error and is impossible on the game when played on console. The whole point of any% TASes is to finish the game as quickly as theoretically possible. If it's not theoretically possible then the whole point is just lost imo. And yes, I know it would be different if it was done on dolphin.

I see this TAS as sort of a concept demo. To be considered a serious record, this route still needs to be done on Dolphin. The one thing that looked weird to me was the setup to go OoB before GIM. Climbing to the top instead of using the Skulltula hover looked slow.

The TAS looks good, but it's beyond me why someone can willingly choose to suffer through the use of Mupen.
