I must admit I didn't think it was going to be possible to do on emulator, but it's good to see it is possible. There's probably no way to sync it, but I would like to see it being console verified.

I wonder if anyone would be willing to put in the effort to port it to BizHawk and submit it with Homerfunky's approval? Maybe even console verify it? It kinda sucks that this new crazy stuff isn't getting to be submitted tbh.

What was this made on if not on Bizhawk? Is homerfunky a masochist and made this on mupen-rr? Also OoT can't be console verified.

Two broken images? Edit: Ah my fault. Privacybadger was a bit overprotective. Does homerfunky know that you can change Bizhawk to Dynarec and then it runs just as fast as mupen? Although not sure it would be accepted here then.

CORRECT DUNGEON ORDER Hi ya'll! I had an idea, which some has said sounds somewhat similar to another speedruning category called MST which was TAS'd by homerfunky, but I think it is worth considering. It is called, "Correct Dungeon Order." Unlike the MST TAS, this category would allow the use of reverse bottle adventure in order to move faster with more bombchus to spare, as well as skipping the visit to zelda. The route for this would be a bit different than what you'd expect since you can't visit or beat dungeons out of order, making wrong warping slightly more limited, since you have to beat the spirit/shadow temple last, and you can't wrong warp to the end of the game from there. This means we'll actually use Bottle Adventure to get Farore's wind on our B button in order to get a warp point at the end of tower collapse from a wrong warp in the fire temple. A big reason I wanted to TAS this category is because the, "All Medallions," TAS was completed with RBA and only beat one of the dungeons, and because the MST TAS was accidentally played on the wrong version of the game and lost time due to not being able to use bomb ocarina items. However someone brought up the argument that it would be too similar to homerfunky's MST TAS, because it does technically beat each dungeon just as he did, though in a much different way, never even getting light arrows or beating the trials, and skipping Ganondorf and doing dungeons in the, "right," order. As for how I came up with this, well we have something called reverse dungeon order, but then I thought it would actually be even more interesting if we were forced to do the dungeons in the normal order allowing the use of RBA and BA to save large portions of time. So, what do you guys think? Would this be worthy of a TAS? (estimated 1-2 hours)\ Also I posted this in the wrong thread at first, this is my first time using a forum, please have mercy.

I would say it sounds good. Just as with many major games, there are many glitches and these are usually fun to watch. Especially because N64 Zelda TASes feel like 99% glitches, 1% cutscenes. As for being normal dungeon order, I think i have seen too many reverse orders in various games. I think it is a good time to finally go and TAS the game in an intended order. At least somewhat. I am especially "yes" for this TAS if it would showcase glitches rarely used or even the ones never actually used.

I must say this sounds indeed pretty interesting. I have no idea how much would actually be different to the current MST and All Dungeon routes but it is definitely a nice concept to think about. Would be cool to see you doing that ;)

Another idea I have had for a while for master quest is: any%, No Wrong Warping/Early Light Arrows. The specific restrictions are that you cannot wrong warp (however void warping is allowed, used to speed up tower collapse section, used in MrGrunz's any% TAS), and you cannot use GIM or RBA to to obtain Light Arrows, meaning you must beat the last 2 dungeons (Spirit and Shadow temple) in order to get the light arrows. I thought this would be better than trying to TAS correct dungeon order, because it is a smaller scale project that I could make really optimized as opposed to making something really long that isn't as optimized (and also, I don't have to TAS cucco's!!), and I also get to show off some other glitches that wouldn't be seen in the Correct Dungeon Order TAS, like Adult trading as child link, early golden scale, and other small things. I've been working on the child route a bit, and I won't say its final but it will probably be what is used, assuming it is faster than an alternate route which I have been thinking about. Here is the child WIP Route: https://pastebin.com/YCBEvrQC If you have any route ideas or suggestions let me know. I'll work on my alternate route idea later and post here to see if you guys think the alternate route is faster. (for a basic idea of the alternate route, we get kakariko bottle first, then we get 19 spirit temple chu's after odd mushroom, then requiem deathwarp back to kokiri forest, and then go straight to adult and do spirit temple. the main disadvantage of this alternate route is losing the odd mushroom from deathwarp as well as not starting out with as many bombchu's (and no poe) as adult, and the main advantage is saving the time of backtracking through gerudo valley)

Does reaching the end screen count as completing the game? I apologize for asking a stupid question. These new runs got me confused

Yup - it's a debate that happened a long time ago, when the very first wrong warp to the credits was discovered back in 2012. The majority opinion ended up being that yes, it did count, and it was used in the route for a short period of time before Ganondoor was figured out. Link to video

Also for TASvideos it has been a general rule, since forever (I would guess since the founding of the site), that reaching the "the end" screen is what counts as completing a game. So even if it was different in the OoT community, which it isn't, it would be allowed here.

Not explicitly TAS related, but ZFG did a LOTAD demonstration run of the new 100%-with-SRM route, and it's completely bonkers. I imagine a 100% TAS would take a fairly similar route. Link to video

There's a hack called The Missing Link. It is a fan-made interquel of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. For Any% you should get 40 rupees for Bombchu and farm Deku Nuts from Deku Babas (7) for the Bunny Hood. Use Bombchu hovering when necessary. Bomb Jumps with the Bunny Hood instead of using Cojiro saves minutes. You can't get Bombchu until you get rid of a curse plaguing a holy city. Those sacrilegious Gerudo! They shall be condemned! Deku Nut drops are worth 3 instead of 5. Same goes for Bombchu. For 100% you need 179 rupees for a second bottle and one of twelve heart pieces. Utilize a collision bug for the first heart piece. For heart piece in chest in house with Keese, no more than 3 Deku Nuts would do and you need to fight another Deku Baba The fastest way to Cluck Cluck Ranch is by Bombchu hovering and you may need to do it twice. The Cucco Lady has a heart piece. Place bugs on soft soil for a heart piece. The rest is up to you. It is a short romhack and can be beaten in under an hour.

For anyone wanting to see good old Ganon being defeated without any SRM stuff. Something like 24 seconds quicker than the most recent run of the same route thanks to a new trick in deku tree. Link to video[/video]

The old OoT TASes were great. I will always remember the joy when watching them. Even the heated discussions here with swordless, grunz, spiderwaffle, bloob, yourself and others was very enjoyable. But when it takes 10 months for a reply to a question I guess OoT TASing is pretty dead now. What was it that killed it? Bizhawk? Abeshi? GIM? The spiderwaffle ban? The awkward spliced TAS? The new ace-like ending sure doesnt help. Maybe it's just time to move on? If any of u old TASers ever read this I want to thank you for your hard work!

We've had plenty of OoT (and MM) TASes in the recent years, it's just that you have to look beyond the TASVideos forums and beyond traditional TASes that aim for a TASVideos publication. These were mostly challenge runs like low pause, with many of them being more LOTAD than TAS, due to not aiming for complete optimization and instead just trying to finish the challenge in a creative way without taking ages to complete. One of them even got published here: [3537] N64 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time "No Doors, All Dungeons" by NEVERDOORS in 2:24:37.03 Even the any% category (or "game end glitch" on this site) got a new publication just last year.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

I'd say mostly the Discord killed the forums. You should check out those Discord channels if you are interested (although I also haven't been there in like a year, got busy). Another thing is, compared to the olden days TASing also has become a bit less relevant since all the twitch streamers develop amazing skills through years of practice. There is almost nothing left that is considered "TAS-only". When I started on this board, there was loads. Of course it will never be the flawless run a TAS could be, but they come pretty damn close and can often run the same routes as TASes. Especially the longer TASes nobody wants to do, because they take so long to make and the route wouldn't be much different from RTA. And at least for OoT I don't think there can be much improved in any%. Though I'd expect a new TAS soon(ish) for MM any%.

That was an incredible Jabu run! If the whole TAS will be like this, it's going to be the best one ever for this game.
