Okay, so the guards are standing there once I enter. Now do I need to wait some frames before entering to make them not show up?
Is it night when you enter? If so, then you'll have to wait until it's day.

Well the guards, once I go through the hole, are standing right in front of me

Sounds like it's night, or you've already triggered the fleeing scene. Hopefully not the latter. EDIT: If you're using the same file as that one you uploaded earlier, I'm guessing it's night. The sun probably went down as you were doing the seam walk and getting to the castle, since you only had a short amount of daytime left on that save state.

You have to wait for it to be be daytime so there is no need to panic. You can't bypass the guards and even if you could you eventually hear the void noise., you're required to wait, but make sure you use a savestate before you enter the tunnel so you can experiment on the guard setup espeacialy the last set of guards, I think sidesteps would probally be best if backwalking can't be done.

If you have to wait till daytime, have some with Malon ;), or play with the gossip stone, or taunt the guards.

If I get in the tunnel as the sun is going down, will it count as night time when Im in the tunnel? Once I'm done with the boost there is still some sun up but once Im entering the hole, its 95% gone. From the save state I provided, if someone can get into the castle and make it think there is still daylight, that would be fantastic

The sound of the wolf howling is the exact cutoff for nighttime. If you can enter the castle courtyard any time before then (and you have to go through the entire tunnel for it to count), the game will think it's still day. How many seconds are you slow by? Waiting outside is a minute down the drain, and hence an absolute last resort.

The howling is right when I do the bomb boost, so I need 3 or 4 seconds to spare.

Wow, 3 seconds is a pretty long time. I'll see what I can do, but I can guarentee you right now that I won't be able to do it. ;)

I say, to get that amount of time back, youll have to go way back and redo parts youve done already with Acryte's suggestions and other people's suggestions. I heard like a page ago or so that on one of the bosses you could save a few seconds. You probably can save a bunch more seconds than that if you would redo those other parts. Remember, this is just a TEST RUN, so redoing parts and fixing other things is needed alot of the time. Thats just my thoughts on it.

Guano, if you upload the run now I might be able to work out how you can shave off those crucial seconds, but I fear it'll mean you backtracking to a point that was way back and just perfecting transtions daytime/nightime transition areas the only thing I could think of based on what I've seen is to roll into the corner of Jabu instead of Jumpslashing, but thats way back unless you can hex edit what you did in Jabu. Yautja is the best person to ask about it because it requires a pixel perfect roll.

He only needs to improve on daytime/nightime transition, which doesn't include dungeons . It would be easier if he can save some of the inputs to dungeons.

Improvements need to be taken from the portions of the run that involve these areas: Hyrule Field / Hyrule Castle Gerudo Valley / Gerudo Fortress / Desert Colossus Lake Hylia / Zora's Fountain Time does NOT flow anywhere else. So, shaving 3-4 seconds off a dungeon boss will not resolve the problem. AKA, he's already uploaded the run. Check the previous page for a download link.

Is it possible to utilize the uber water boundary glitch at Hyrule to you can enter Hyrule castle?

Well, I tried for a bit over an hour and got to the moat with my bombchu out right as the wolf howled, to no large surprise. And it's surprising that I did over 1000 rerecords from that. Though I guess it's not a huge surprise since about 900 of them were trying to get over that seam. As for the water, I'm not sure if there's even enough breath to try to see if there's anything that can be done. The countdown timer starts at 6 seconds.

Ah right. Lol. I sort of forgot that he only need TIME oriented seconds and not just general seconds shaved off. Well, ive seen the run, and its going to be hard to shave off a few seconds from just backwalking in most of those time areas... any ideas?

But it's doable, and this is what separates a TAS from a console speedrun. If it's the most frustrating trick in the run, at least the rest of it is all downhill from there on out.
K, here is the difference however... TAS or not... How much time does it take to lure the poe over to the damage boosting location? Because that is wasted time technically, though it is understandable that the trick difficulty is irrelevant in a TAS. (it is still probably faster however to lure poe, just pointing this out) Now, you need more time? OK, firstly for that seam, I always aligned myself when jumping off over that little corner of the hole and (angled myself correctly I guess. That way I didn't even have to aim the seamwalk. I just held Z, landed, and then walked up... of course you would sub in the backrun up and then pivot to a walk. As far as squeezing out seconds for the day transition let me watch it again and look into that specifically. Then I'm sure you backrun over to the crate area as well... On your way to spirit... you lost alot of time whenever you hit a wall and walked against it backwards. Pivot to a roll in the correct direction and then swap to a backwalk again. It is faster. You lost a sec or 2 there. In gerudo valley roll instead of sidehopping then swap to backrun. Also manipulate that luck to make sure you grab cuckoo quick. AND backrun all the way till you are about to jump off, then swap to forwards and jump. The difference is that you can be going in the desired direction while also gaining a horizontal distance. Same w/ triple sidehop in Desert colossus, 2 pivoted rolls into another pivoted backrun is much better. I haven't seen anything past gaauntlets so I'll have to get updated now.

Nope, I was trying to do something like that a year ago to no avail. It is a very contained warp area. Not a large peice of space but actually a small one, maybe even custom tailored to fit in that hole? Only way to find that out for sure is to get behind that wall and use levitation cheats to find out whether the possibilities even exist at all. Of course, it would still take you to the courtyard anyways... AND it would also take much longer to execute since you fall for quite some time till you get into the water and can swim up to the surface... bombchu is faster in every way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWKNk-NnhVI example of seam. This is what you want to do, though you will have backrunning in there up to the seam. As you can see I also try and align w/ the seam on the way up there, plus I already have the right angle necessary. SO all I need to do is get on the seam and run up it. After practice you should be able to feel the angle. You'll be like... nope I need a little change in the angle (if you didn't get it right) and can adjust that as you run up to the seam anyways, that is for those who would like to do it w/out TAS abilitites, though a TAS can easily just try again on that jump and get the right angle. Nothing special, w/ that strat you should be able to get that seam 85%-100% of the time depending on how much practice you have had recently. I remember practiing and easily doing 23 in a row before quitting and calling it good.

If you plant the magic bean, you'll need to head to the graveyard from KV when there's no need to as a child. Plus, buying the bean itself is a trip down Zora's River, a lengthy dialogue, and ten rupees. The Poe boost is faster without a doubt.

Okay, I think I can get in there like 1/2 a second before the wolf howls, I need to get right next to the 2nd vine(the one I climb up), before the owl starts blabbing. Then get a good alignment where I only need maybe 1 jump to get to the bottom instead of sidehopping. Then running up the seam and maybe 1 backwalk. Maybe 2 backwalks. This idea would shave off at least 3/4 of a second or 1 second running to the vine. 2 Seconds for the backflip and sidehop 3 seconds on the seamwalk and maybe 1/2 a second running backwards to the moat. Oh its f'n doable EDIT: Here is right up to being able to get to the vines. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=1017F85D7273AEAE

From where I am at the top of the vine, there is ~35 seconds before the wolf howls.

So as far as I understand the only reason Lake Hylia was choosen because it was assumed that the owl at the bottom of the river can't be skipped, well it can and possibly by swimming throught the river without coming out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN_-aQr_Feo Here's Yautja's video of it, in my run I got down the waterfall and the owl talked to me, but when I looked more closely at the video I didn't hug the right wall as in Yautja's video.
