You know, I always thought that side-hopping was faster, but now I look closer I think that may have actually been an illusion. Edit: Just a questoin TSA, why did you do the side jump when you were entering the deku tree at the beginning?

Im not 100 % sure but I think he did that because it's alot faster then walking/rolling straight forward to the entrence of the tree.

I think he had a right to be a little annoyed since he wrote it in the description.

I know people will argue that some of the 285 seconds "may" have been saved by "side hopping" and "back flipping" all the time. Well, when you play 5 hours and can do that flawlessly, be my guest. It's not going to save you those nearly 5 minutes of time.

My interpretation is that basically side-hopping is generally faster, but the likelihood that you will make an error(ex. start at the wrong angle/bump into an enemy) and have to make up for it is too large to warrant using it constantly.

Side Hopping is only faster on "angles". And it depends then, too. On a level plain, I found rolling was faster. I tried it out to the Deku Tree...and I realized how "not fast" it was, and it showed how it was "not easy" to line up quickly.

This is how it seems to me too. Althought it seems much faster then rolling when going up a hill, but it seems that it might not be faster if your going down a hill. Either way yeah, it's too hard to line up anyways. Well for me it was anyways.

That's strange, it makes no sense for it to be faster going uphill. One of its biggest differences from rolling is that starting a next jump depends on how often you touch the ground, while you'd be rolling the same amount both uphill and downhill, I think. Unless for some reason you decelerate the longer you're in the air. Buuut, everybody agrees one way or the other with TSA's statement that rolling is more efficient.

It's an illusion of going much faster while side hopping I believe. I'll have to do a test sometime and post the results. EDIT: I forgot to say that I think the illusion is being in close to Link and seeing the side view go by fast. I remember now that you can test this in a fixed camera view e.g. in houses or when sneaking past the guards at the castle

I like this movie. Even though it's long, it's good entertainment and I enjoy watching it. 5 parts watched, 11 more to go :) And I don't care about if you forgot to roll somewhere and so on. You acted extremely confidently, which makes it interesting to watch. Everything (at a very small error marginal) in the movie serves purpose.

I was surprised that you got lucky enough to have two threes-in-a-row against the second form of Twinrova. Then again, maybe that's the pattern Twinrova always uses to start out with, and I never noticed because I don't usually beat Twinrova with only TWO TAKEDOWNS. I was also surprised at Link's upskirt shot after that battle. Just one problem I had, though. Why didn't you immediately put down the sword after learning the Prelude of Light and do the first part of the Spirit Temple right away? It seems to me that you could have saved one of those little roll-trips from the Triforce pad to the sword that way.

It would have been faster...I had a mental lapse at that moment, and rather than pausing to think - I just made a choice. So it cost me the time to roll from the "warp point" inside the Temple of Time to the Master Sword...but how long I would have been standing still to figure out which route was quicker could have been worse.

As soon as TSA decides to do a new speedrun of this game, I think thoose wo are devoted to Ocarina of Time should give him some advice. I especially have focused and analyzed on his latest run. There are many parts were he could have done one or two extra rolls instead of walking. If you estimate that a role probably saves about 0,6 or 0,7 seconds, he could easily save thoose 4-5 min to get under 5 hours. Also we have to discuss again which of the method; rolling or side-jumping is the fastest way. I still claim that side-jumping is the best method for longer distance. Using side-jumping in Hyrule field and also places were the ground is facing downwards. So I have lots of things to tell for you mister assassin if u are interested.

I just discovered something. At 17:04 part 4 in your run, you could have simply swim in the water (which is indeed faster then rolling) instead of rolling. Probably could have saved a few seconds here. Now don't get me wrong, the reason why Im finding these small errors is because your current run is so good that one must have to find these types of errors in order to reduce the time of your future run, (you should definitely take this as a compliment). btw, I could go on and on :) I like this.

Next thing. At 12:29 part 5, here you could have side-jumped (and you could obviously done this in earlier part when you were a young-Link) down and saved lots of time here. Due to how the ground is facing down your side-jump (as you know) would have bigger jumps than a normal side-jump.

Well, his next run will definitely be under 5 hours since I've seen a few demonstration videos for a new attack technique, and a hookshot technique that speeds up the water temple immensely.

Part 6, 4:46 you could most definitely use the hookshot instead of climbing. Few seconds can be saved here.

There are lots of obvious flaws that we have already brought up since the movie's release. Keep in mind that this is a 5 hour single segment, so some things tend to slip by unnoticed on accident.
