Alright, how about when he's charging up the bouncy ball? Is there enough time to jump to the platform beneath him, or would he pound the ground?

I certainly don't think there is any time to stand next to time during when he is charging his ball although I may be possible but it sounds to unrealistic..

There's enough time, but if you're too close you can't swing your sword fast enough, and you can't aim it at him as well. (Z-targeting is disabled in this battle)

I wanted to check last night, but I don't have any save files that have beaten the game. I just remember that I always used to play tennis with him, but one day at my friend's house he stood under the platform and hit him with one bounce. I know it's harder to time, but I wouldn't say it's unrealistic. It should be easy enough for a pro like TSA to pull off.

I already knew about this - Fierce brought it up a few months ago in the SDA thread. What you do is you jump to the middle, but hang off, then climb up and he'll fire. Do spin attacks to ensure you hit the ball back (it seriously is not easy to see it). Then go off on him.

If you are doing a single segment (which you probably are) I would certainly not do this because if he hits you while you are under him or extremely close to him you can fall all the waaaay down if you make a tiny misstake, and knowing how beautiful you executed Ganon in your last run, I don't think there is no need to do this highly dangerous trick :)

I used those OoT videos in the SDA when I was playing it for the first time. At the time, I was stuck at the part where I should have been getting the lens of truth using young link, but becuase I used the demos, I inadvertently beat the Shadow temple without it. Now I know why I thought that temple was hard as hell.

It's pointless to use a guide playing Zelda. The whole game is based on thinking not reading. ;D

It's too bad that the file is 507 MB for LQ. my 512 flash drive doesnt like to pick up any single files over 500 MB. Still, I will see this when my other PC gets internet connection.

Well, seeing as it was the first zelda game i ever played completely through, i was not aware of certain older tricks. I didn't know you could shoot arrows through fire and light the arrow on fire. I would have never figured out how to get the fire arrows, which are pretty damn close to absolutely necessary. I would have never had a reason to go down into the well to get the lens of truth. I didn't even know you could become young link again becuase i had no reason to go to the temple of time after you grow up.

You figure those things out by talking to people and exploring. Zelda games aren't reknowned for the difficulty level. Still, to each his own. Right?

Generally I don't use guides for games like Zelda, and only when I'm truly "okay, I'm stuck, I've poked at everything I think I can, and I don't want to spend another hour figuring it out" I check GameFAQs.

Generally, I hate talking to unimportant people in games because all they say is stuff like: "Go talk to the guy and do the thing to get the stuff" and thats just retarded.

That's what's fun. You don't know if what the people say is important or not. "Go up up the mountain ahead!" I think that you're a loser if you can't beat Zelda (and all other games) without GameFAQs. How fun is it if you get stuck and then ask somebody else what to do? It's a special feeling when you after loads of thinking get an idea how beat that boss or whatever and then it works.

Why wasn't this movie split into segments like the old versions were? krieg: Developers make NPCs give standard directive statements so that players who can't figure it out on their own can still get a nudge in the right direction. If you couldn't figure out where you were supposed to go, you should turn to the NPCs for help. That is why they say those things. You shouldn't call it retarded when a dev tries to help the not-so-bright players along their way. Your logic makes no sense. "I need help. Woah woah woah, these NPCs are being too generic, even if they are giving me the help I need. I'll go watch a speedrun for ideas instead."

Cool stuff, but wouldn't sidehopping be ultimately faster than walking backwards, if not for the speed (while I don't know if it's faster than walking backwards, it sure looks that way), then for the fact that you wouldn't have to waste as much time facing the right direction since you can sidehop on 2 directions?

Walking backwards is much much faster than any other method.

Since I don't have a way to do any speed runs for well over a month, I figured I'd give this a gander. First of all, is there anyway to reproduce the "Crooked Cart" trick on the emulator, or a way to access the debug mode? I want to know because you can sequence break the game badly by skipping stuff. Other key areas of interest: Skipping the Gerudo's Fortress - Get caught or hookshot up to the jail cell. Get to the ledge of the exit of the cell, face right and try to roll with hover boots to the rock structure (towards desert gate). Get caught on it or to a place you can use C-items, use longshot to grapple the flag pole beyond the gate. You now bypassed opening the gate. Acryte's Text Skips - Certain texts are triggered by stepping on certain areas. Backflips, button mashing, or damage boosts can bypass many of these. I do some in my 4:57 run. Acryte's Advanced Deku Tree Bugs/Tricks - Acryte has some tricks that may be worth exploiting in at least the Deku Tree, such as timing damage boosts on the rotating Skulltulas on the vine wall. My Jabu-Jabu's Belly Bugs - You can reach the Zora's Sapphire without Ruto at the start with a perfectly aimed Jump Slash Jump down the middle hole in the room above and hitting the electric "pillar" so it flings you onto the egde of the high platform with the tunnel to the Sapphire room. The trouble is triggering Bigocto to come down. Boundary Violations - You can exit the boundaries of dungeons and areas almost everywhere, but most end up having you swim in invisible water, then falling to your death. There may be a way to exploit this, thoug, as you can pass back through in-bounds through solid objects. Fierce's Young Link Gold Scale Bug - You can get the Gold Scale as Young Link, allowing you to enter Zora's Domain earlier and doing Jabu-Jabu before Dodongo's Cavern. Since we can get the fish as fast as possible now, it may be worth a look on a TAS. My ammended Adult Route - Graveyard (Shield/Hookshot) Ice Cavern via Deku Leaf Shortcut to get Iron Boots and Serenade of Water Travel to Forest Temple to learn Minuet of Forest Serenade of Water warp to Lake Hylia Enter Water Temple Get Longshot (Hook ascent + advanced Dark Link sword fight), set Farore's Wind in Longshot chest room Go to Gerudo Valley Complete Gerudo's Fortress Go to Spirit Temple and learn Requiem of Spirit Minuet of Forest Warp to Forest Temple Complete Forest Temple (Longshot will make you not need Farore's Wind, plus new sequence breaks) Go to Lost Woods, warp to Goron City Scale Death Mountain Longshot to Fire Temple, skipping Tunic and Bolero of Fire Complete Fire Temple Scale down mountain, go to Temple of Time Get Prelude of Light Warp Back in Time Get Din's Fire Requiem of Spirit warp to Desert Complete Young Link Spirit Temple Prelude of Light Warp to Temple of Time Go forward in time Requiem of Spirit warp to Desert Complete Adult Spirit Temple Re-enter Spirit Temple Farore's Wind warp back to Water Temple Get two keys, Serenade of Water warp outside, Re-enter Complete Water Temple Prelude of Light Walk to Kakariko Learn Nocturne of Shadow Nocturne of Shadow warp to Shadow Temple Complete Shadow Temple Prelude of Light warp to Temple of Time Ganon's Castle
