I'm giving up...I tried a lot, but eventually it will desynch :( Maybe someone can make a new .avi? That would be really nice! Or I just wait for the published run (Guanos speed and patience is amazing!) :)

I second that. I'm astounded he's already very near the end of a long game, especially with all the desync issues he's had to deal with. Thumbs up, Guano!

Enjoy! Thank you for the support and everything! Great, it desynch'd for me. Guess Ill redo it.

I'm not going to make a new avi until Twinrova is beaten. Since this desynched for me too, you'll have to wait a bit. It failed after quick spinning a switch, after which Link stunningly rolled into a wall.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

Yeah, it desynched at the same place for me. Remember...you backwalk down staircases and sidehop up them for maximum efficiency. Also, someone should run it from the beginning and make sure it plays until Spirit without desynchs.

When I play from the beginning it desyncs at gerudo valley. when I play from gerudo valley it desyncs at colossus. [a lot I haven't watched yet] When I play from the graveyard, it works fine through shadow and forest and most of spirit and then desyncs right after you spin and activate the crystal.

Whether I played from the beginning or from the save state, it desyncs at the same point, around frame 432400. Link's in the room with the mirror that points down into the room with the big statue and he bumps into the wall instead of going through the door.

Is this even going to be accepted for publication? With the emulation and desync problems, there obviously are issues that need to be resolved before this can be watched without someone going "Why is the game doing that? When I played Zelda on my N64, it didn't pause for six seconds on a solid white screen every time I accessed my inventory."

I don't see why it shouldn't. There have been other games that often desync, but still got published. yeah, the delay is a little annoying, but IMHO that's not a reason to deny publication. After all, "WTF? I've never this on my console" is exactly the reaction we want to provoke ;) I think it's ok to publish. The white-screen-issue can be explained in the movie description.

GBA movies were accepted and published when there was emulator enduced slow down in the games.

The desyncing is weird since all other m64 files have worked flawlessly. But it obviously works for a lot of people so when it's done it would be great if it were published. however, the next person to try to beat this should leave raw data off as that seems to cause the most problems. I don't think framebuffer->RDRAM (to fix the pause white screen) for the next run would be good though because then the only way to watch it would be through AVI. I have a pretty powerful system and with RDRAM it goes from normal 60fps to about 40.

Since GuanoBowl already said that he would work on a better version, I don't see why it would be... EDIT: Very nice stuff in the Spirit Temple, GuanoBowl. Just one thing. Please keep more than one heart during the final battles. That beeping is so annoying.

It's that reaction for a different reason, though. (Yes I saw the winking face, just thought I'd make the point)

I thought this was a mistake, too. We still have that MZM movie that needs to be obsoleted because we couldn't be patient enough for it to be emulated right.

Heh, I actually have pretty much zero interest TASing this game (and most other 3D games). Guanobowl, I don't want to take away from the work you've done, as I've watched a bit of it, and I hear it is top-notch (although I personally don't enjoy watching a run that points the camera behind the direction of travel). If you want to work on an improved version, then more power to you. But it may be wise to wait until the game is emulated completely correctly and without desync to do so. This would save some headaches, and also prevent you later from thinking "Well, I should improve it again, since it's emulated correctly now."

Twinrova phase 1: You have to do two Z-targets. (1) You Z-target the first witch to receive the fire/ice stream. (2) As soon as your shield begins to deflect the stream, quickly press Z again to switch the target to the other witch. The stream should hit instantly, and you don't have to aim manually, which slows things down. If this isn't clear (it should be), I'll record myself playing if someone can provide a save-state. Otherwise, the run was well-done. I was going to suggest either a bomb throw or simple sword slash for Callout 15 if the sword spin kept causing desyncs, but you figured it out. Current projected final time: 2:35-2:37 (Guaranteed under 2:38:47 based on times from TSA's unoptimized run) Instructions for the last segment to follow later.

(Edit, added because someone snuck in a post:) DK64, Huh? This way, there is v1 (current), v2 (next), and v3 (when the emulator can handle the game better). If you wait for the emulator to handle the game better, you skip from v1 directly to v3, saving lots of work. Obviously if I'm not the one running the game, I'm not going to affect how others feel or what they do, and that is not my intent. This is just my two cents.
