Comments

This run is a improvement of 3244 frames (54.635 seconds) over the current published movie. Mainly due to skipping a hole level, also skipping two boss animations, a heavily optimized boss fight and some other small improvements. The entire run was made in lsnes movie editor, because it's cool to not have memorize input patterns when jumping around corners and such.

Tricks and glitches used in this run

Super Run
By pressing L+R it is possible to run at 15 pixels per frame.
Sliding
Pressing Down on at specific speed while super running will increase the speed by 1 pixel per frame.
High jumping
It's possible to do a higher jump by pressing Up+B.
Boss animation skip
The animation of the second boss is skipped by using the hammer while falling down. The one for the last boss is skipped by sliding on the ceiling into the boss room.
Skip level 6
The sewer level can be skipped by using the horn right at the beginning. This works because the exit of the level is at the other side of the wall and the hitbox of the player extends to the exit while using the horn.
Triple Damage with gun
Normally it is only possible to do double damage on the last boss with the gun, but when the boss was hit by a sliding attack before, it can happen that the gun will do triple damage. That's 90+ HP instead of 64, the amount of damage depends on position and attacks previously used. Punching the boss before using the slide attack can do up to 100 HP damage, but it's not guaranteed.

Looks like Randil forgot to do sth! Nice new tricks, nice run! Voting Yes!
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

Spectacular. This run is always incredibly entertaining and fast, but it feels a bit more polished now. The animation skips were quite clever, and the final boss fight is masterful when you hang out in front of the note player. I'm amused that, although the horn is shown twice in the run, you don't hear its sound either time! One question: A good portion of the time, you start super-running but don't spend any M points to do so. How does that work?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

The M points only decrease every few frames. When I am doing something else before that time I keep the M points.

The The Mask run has always been one of my personal favorites because of its high speed. It's very nice to see that run being that much more polished. Big yes vote.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

You skipped jumping into a sewer hole simply by using an attack at the beginning? How did that pass QA? lol

Love that game, especially the first level. Yes vote from me as well. Who's the mask hater that voted no? Shame on you!

Holy crap that is fast. Can you not skip those electricity walls with all that speed? Also why are you slower entering the first level?

You cannot. The old run used a inacurrate emulator (snes9x 1.43), which had less lag in level transitions.

Loved the crazy movement and that really cheap way to beat level 6. Yes vote!
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

Nice try but wrong system. Looking from all the other replies I'm sure this will go for moon or higher. Glad to see I'm not the only one loving this game and this run as well!
