Wasn't there a faster version of this that triple jumped off the arch and wall kicked over the fence? Edit: I was thinking of the flying cap version.

You should've used this method, Rikku improved his own strategy. ;) http://youtube.com/watch?v=g68IR5tHbYk

I think someone should make a run of the first Bowser stage, from start to the pipe, without getting red coins, and compare it to a run where the red coins are acquired, and looking at the time it takes to get the star "Hot-foot-it into the Volcano". With the very fast stars we do now, and knowing that you can BLJ on those moving platforms in bowser 1, it might be faster to just not get the red-coin star in bowser 1.

I timed the 15:08 run and it gets to the pipe in 50 sec (including the 5 sec animation of getting the star), while the best run without red coins is ~29 sec, so it takes 16 sec to get the coins, which means we need to find another star that takes less than 16 sec to get (I can't think of any atm)

you can't count time saved from BLJ'ing towards how much faster B1 is with and without coins. BLJ can be done and coins collected too.

Getting Hot Foot into the Volcano costs 12 seconds just from exiting and re-entering the level an extra time. It's not worth it.

The closest star to 16 seconds currently is Whomps Fortress BAtW. If you can find a star which is about as long to get...

Well, that star is already collected, so we need a yet faster star. I agree with bkDJ, it's best to get the coins while BLJing. EDIT: Here's the actual video

I wonder if the data of the second WF star still would give you the star if you got up there. Is there anything that can check that?

I have no idea what you mean. If the tower isn't there or what?

Look, does the star data for up there load if you do the caged island episode or do you have to beat the giant whomp first? I just think that you could use it in the run.

Even if you collect caged star, when you reenter the level you are still forced to select star #1. In other words, no, it would not work.

Okay then. I will think of something else.

I think this is what he means: If you used a cheat code of some description to go up to where the 2nd star is, would the star be there, even though the tower to get there is not? I'm good at interpreting Rrdigway's weird brain-craps :) I used Toad's Tool, and it seems that if there were some way to get that high without climbing, the star would be there. The only methods I can think of with any chance in hell of working are triple-jumping off the boss' head, or BLJing on the blue Thwomp.

I am just guessing, is this is like the blast away the wall star?

Using a gameshark to moon jump you can test that quite quickly.

I tried using moon jump but it was hard to actually figure out where the star would be. I couldn't see it, so unless its invisible and I was just having bad luck finding it I don't think its possible.

I would bet a lot of money it's possible. However, if it's difficult even with Moon Jump, I doubt it's feasible.

Remember the Coin run? Sorry for the really long delay; we ran into some problems, but we'll try to be a little faster for the next couple of levels. WIP of: Aquarium JRB WF PSS CCM TotWC B1 BoB In other words, the entire Lobby. I forgot to change the filename, so it still says "Middle of BoB", so just ignore that.

I would bet it isn't possible. The whole tower is removed for star #1. Why would the star be kept and only turned invisible?

By "possible" I meant with cheats, not possible normally. The game code doesn't lie.
