Im not sure if this has been discussed already, but is it possible to get through the key doors without the keys? Is there a rule against it or is it just impossible?

I has been discussed several times. It's not possible because the rooms behind the doors are only loaded when opening them properly (with a key).

Rather, you can get behind the door but it's just a small room. Walking through the door properly is when the game prepares the next area.

I'm just waiting for someone to find a buffer overflow exploit that allows them to go to BitS when they enter BitDW. ;)

That'd be shocking. Imagine someone watching a TAS for the first time. "What the hell, mario's spasming- Wow, how'd they go through the door? WTF?! I thought it was supposed to be the first Bowser level! What the hell is going on here?!"

That reminds me of my first TAS I ever watched. It was the first published run of this game. I was so shocked, I watched it 6 more times. Later on, I finally decided to join the source of that movie. Here.

That was interesting. I watched the first one, wondered what would happen if all the bombs were used, then clicked the second one and found out.

Interesting indeed, but not useful.

Couldn't you make him land on a bomb after he has been blown away by another?

It would be pretty sweet if the final bowser could take the first two hits by flying off of the first into the second (and be thrown normally into the third).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SltTSySbUi0 0:57. Now let's try to figure out how it's done. KrohnIndustry has no idea - it happened randomly. He has no proof he didn't use GS, but it's still worth testing.

Holy shit, does this mean sub 5 minutes is possible?

That makes no sense... I can only think of 2 theories: - he was falling so fast that he didn't touch the water surface in between frames. But this makes no sense because we know you will start swimming instantly the moment you go under a water surface (see tall tall mountain glitches) - he came from too far too fast so the water didn't load? this makes no sense either. I know I've done a lot of BLJ on the roof and the water was always water.

If this really works, yes.

Yeah. He also did LJs on the slope after landing the BLJ, which isn't possible :|

It's bullshit. Look at the other hills he BLJs on (SSL, WF, CCM). You can't normally BLJ on those types of hills, so this is obviously GameShark'd. He's also clearly using a turbo feature. EDIT: Also, you'll notice that he runs for a few frames after landing on the hill from the BLJ on the castle roof. Again, this isn't normally possible.

I think that the damage he took when he hit the bottom of the moat reset the status to not be underwater. Lazy plane collision detection will only check if something crosses the plane, so anything after that will be ok.

Can someone use a gameshark to pass that door and see if you can go to bowser 2? maybe you can't and "we" can stop thinking about the moat door :)

Maybe there's still someway it can be done? Yeah, I didn't think that door could be opened anyway, so this is probably fake.

I have doubts about the legitimacy of it, unless the orginal submitter of the trick can prove otherwise. Also, I'm pretty sure you can't open the moat door even if you have the metal cap on, or if you were to use the warp cheat to make Mario appear right in front of the door.

There's no reason it shouldn't be possible.

When you go into water with the metal cap, you go into an underwater with metal cap state, which I think explains why you can't open doors.

I agree with Swordless Link. If you watch (I think) his newest video, he walks up an unwalkable slope and seems to constantly use turbo and stuff. I know from personal experience having seemingly useless gameshark codes can make strange things happen.

It looks like GameShark to me..I've used walk under water codes before. :|
