you must select "read-only" or else you start to record over the movie file as soon as you load the savestate. redownload because you just wrote all over the file hehe ;)

Yeah I remember reading somewhere the the backwards long jump glitch works on stairs and upwards lifts... We should brainstorm sections where it might be useful:-) - in bowser 3 to skip the windy section before the pipe? - Vanish cap star maybe? - skip section after lift in Bowser 2? There is also an extending spiral that goes up. - Harder to see how it could work in Bowser 1.... - Rainbow Ride on the carpets? pendulum platform? -Tick Tock Clock has lots of oppurtunities (have to have time on) - several lifts in HMC but I cant see how to use them... - whomps fortress has one but its out of the way Do you think it works on the upgoing sections of see-saws too? There are a few more of those... 1. Bombomb battlefield 2. vanish cap 3. bowser 3

In DDD, collecting the red coins while the submarine is there look _much_ more intertaining than collecting them in the original way (via poles). The DDD looked kinda laggy :( In second Bowser level, you should have gotten the second red coin (the one in the ledge of the rotating plateau) by simply jumping/walkin into the lava. That would have been faster compared to what you did. Althou' I think it can be gotten even faster in some other way. (But since you weren't aiming for precis moves in every step, I guess you already knew this) It left me to wander for a while why you didn't get all of the stars from DDD at the same time, but after you continued from that room, I got it ;) In BBH, why not take two blue coins from those two books in the second floor which you just pass by? You could take them instead of killing the two ghosts in the backroom of the house (which you had to enter through the door in the back of the house). Otherwise I loved every one of the shortcuts you made in BBD. Nice route for Koopa the Quick in THI. That sure was entertaining/fun to watch since I never have done it that way myself. The TTM was kinda boring when you used the same bug over and over again. But I guess that's the fastes way of doing it so go for it. TTC looks _a lot_ more entertaining when you don't stop the clock every time (especially when colecting the coins). Points from that to you. :) The second star in RR was awsome!! When you were collecting the coins and standin in the flying carpet, it was very good idea to look around what the course 15 looks like. (Althou' you kinda rushed in using the joystick. I would have done it more gentle, slowly). + some very nice fooling around every time you were travelling with the carpet. I have seen somewhere a vide where the red coin structure is used to get to the higher levels of course 15 so that you don't have to wait so much with the carpet. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed every second you were with the carpet but some of those star could have been gotten faster by the red coin structure. In the last Bowser level the camera angle should be from the side, not from behind. Atleast to me it looks more entertaining that way. But this isn't so important point so carry on your good work :) I just got it that every star should be taken as close to the ground as possible, so that Mario doesn't need to fall so much every time he takes a star. This may sound quite needless, but when you take 120 stars and each time Mario needs to fall 0.1 (just an estimated guess) second longer than he is really needed to, it gives quite a lot time. To get the star from as low as possible, you just need to jump to it from under. Or since most of the stars are gotten with the 'Pund the Ground' skill, the Z should be pressed as near to the ground as it is possible while still being able to get the star. Btw, I hadn't noticed before that you can see the Yoshi on the roof while freeing Princess. I hope we can get DeHackEd to make an .avi of this fantastic run. Even thou' it wasn't made for publishing.
Which run should I encode next? :)

thanks for comments maza :) and asteron, what is a see-saw? you mean that loose bridge where you step on it and it loses balance? i don't think it can be done there at all, it wouldn't move up fast enough..

Yeah thats it. They are found in playgrounds. At least that's what they're called in the US, are they called something different in Rio, Brazil?

I'd already suggested looking at the pendulum platforms on RR but we determined that it probably moves upwards too slow to actually work. I will actually try it later this week, though. I also told FODA about the faster cruiser crossing the rainbow route in full detail yesterday so don't worry about looking for it.

I thought I'd just mention this: for TTC, test if having movement or not makes any difference in lag produced etc

humm i didn't notice lag on that level, i'll keep an eye on that. but i think its fun to pick each of the 4 different speeds at least once.

That was a good test run, though I'm a bit bummed that you didn't go for the Extra Lives on the roof of the castle after getting all 120 stars, hehe. ;3 Are you saving that for your final run by chance?

i wouldn't know if i could hit RESET and record it after watching through the ending of the game, or if i should exit the bowser#3 course after getting the star (right next to bowser's pipe...) and go out of the castle to do that and then go back to kill bowser? that is really slow.

I don't think recording a reset after the ending is a very good idea, since whoever makes the .avi might want a different length for the ending than you.

If you exit the course after bowser 3 you can show off how to get to the top of the castle without a cannon (it's faster that way). I think it's worth it but you can go either way.

If you do decide to get the 120 star bonus from Yoshi, I suggest you get the bowser 3 star as your second last, then die on purpose. When you get ejected at the top of the staircase, you can head back down and make the secret star opposite Rainbow Ride your last, then re-enter the stage and fall. This way you'll land in the lake by the cannon.

No...getting the lives from yoshi is a bad idea. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the majority of people at this site have seen that happen, and probably most of them have seen or done the trick to get on the castle, so I don't think doing the trick is worth wasting all of that time. That's really a lot of time. These BLJing tricks are looking very exciting!

I think Foda will only do it if it's as an epilogue type deal, not part of the actual game; one idea we tossed around on the IRC chat is just releasing a seperate movie just on the forums or in the run blurb that just shows the yoshi deal and a few cool tricks for entertainment... that's probably what will end up happening.

yea what i plan is this: submit the movie ending record at grabbing the "star" after defeating bowser. that will be the one to make AVI, if published. but i'll make an extended version that can be linked on the movie description, if bisqwit agrees with it, which shows yoshi, maybe some black rooms of death, and anything else i can come up with.

You might as well call that the "Full Amazing Run".
