it's mainly the same, just a few differences. I also assumed that getting a 100 coin star save 8 seconds in cutscenes. also, these are based on unnasisted times, but are mostly applicable.

The list seems good, but I have one improvement in mind. sm64.com's Navigating the Toxic Maze record is done using a BLJ, which saves quite a bit of time. Since this is a BLJ-less run, I think it would be faster to do Shell Shreddin' for Red Coins instead.

To Johannes: I did heed your advice, but am not going to act on it for two reasons: 1. Even though the navigating the toxic maze star is accomplished through a BLJ, I still think it does not save a whole 9 seconds. leaving it under the 36 second cutoff. 2. Shell shreddin' for red coins was already on the list EDIT: changed somewhere over the rainbow to secrets in the shallows and sky

You can't open cannon in BOB until you've beat King Bob-omb.

Isn't that a tad presumptuous? Just saying. Anyway, yeah, I came up with that old route about...a year and a half ago, so it's good that you've updated it with the latest times before Kyman got too far.

To Kyman. of course, I'm such an idiot, but the star can still be completed in 33 seconds without the cannon or blj. (or less if you spend more than 50 rerecords on a single star. I did a test to find approximately how fast it is w/o the cannon) to Mr RobertZ, you're absolutely right as well. The longest star is somewhere over the rainbow in this list (33+~8 seconds for opening the cannon) so I'll swap it for either DDD: through the jet stream or WDW: secrets of the shallows and sky, which are both 38 seconds. DDD through the jet stream is slightly faster, but a lot more boring. Yeh, so it's not finished/final.

Somewhere over the rainbow would be more than 41 because the pink bob-omb is so far out of the way, and shallows and sky has been done in I think 32 seconds TASed.

Actually one of the reasons I kind of stopped doing the run myself was because I realized myself that the Bobomb star was slower...due to my inexperience/stupidity at the time, taking that out meant redoing the Chomp star, which was based on bobomb positioning luck, which tied into the penguin star in CCM which I'd already done, which also depended on luck...etc. To summarize, I figured the bobomb star was slower myself, and due to (mostly) laziness, it led me to stop doing the run.

Was that some kind of joke? Of course he's going to spend way more than 50 rerecords on every star.

No, he was refering to the fact that he himself made testruns with very few rerecords.

So can we take out opening the cannon in Rainbow ride therefore removing Somewhere over the rainbow and replace it with Shallows and sky? It'll will be a lot faster.

Yeah, I edited the post above with the route in it to replace over the rainbow with secrets in the shallows and sky. Personally, I think that you'll be able to improve the swimming stars less than those that are completed on land. so I'd do the secrets star rather than through the jet stream. But then again, it's not my run so do whatever you like. Hmm, I think Johannes is starting to hate me. Well, sorry. I didn't mean whatever I said.

Not at all. Sorry for somehow giving you that impression. Are we sure it's faster to skip BBH? It has 3 stars whose unassisted records are 11, 27 and 28 seconds, and they could obviously go lower with tool-assistance.

Keep in mind how it takes like 7 seconds to re enter the level as it is so far away. But idk.

Well, the time saved by replacing the three slowest stars with the three BBH ones adds up to 30+ seconds.

That's true, so I guess we're not skipping BBH and taking out the three slowest stars. What stars would those be?

Just don't forget not only how long it takes to get in and out of the level each time, but also how long it takes to get into the courtyard from the Lobby, and then from the courtyard to the basement door. I haven't calculated it or anything, but just keep it in mind.

@Johannes: glad there's no hard feelings @Kyman+Johannes: correction: two fastest stars. You can't do eye to eye in the secret room without the vanish cap, which has been skipped, unless you plan to change that as well. The two slowest stars are snowman's lost his head and secrets in the shallows and sky. also what Mr_RobertZ said.

Well considering the 7 seconds from re entering level would be taken away from 30 twice so - 14 so we'd have 16 seconds from first time going there to going back to castle which would be like 2 seconds saved but I think we should actually test this before guessing.

Also consider the fact that you have to actually open the courtyard door too, which takes tons of time. Or you could just test it, like you said. That could work too.

You should still be able to do a large number of stars before having to worry about this. If you do find out which is quicker, please tell me, because I'm going to do a 70 star run for SDA.
