At 13:17 in that 120 star WIP, could they have ground pounded the pillar earlier? Since you have to wait for the water anyway, there is no reason to hit it on the far side.
What are you talking about? They hit it as soon as they could after the long jump ended...
What he meant is: "Would it be possible to reach the pillar sooner by not longjumping. That way you could pound the pillar faster, even if you're not on the far side of it." Answer is: highly doubtful. I will ask the Japanese player, though.

Actually, I think they do so in order to grind and roll to the other platform...because it should be quicker (since this is what they do assuming they tested other stuff). Remember they need to wait once they've ground pounded BOTH pillars. I don't know if they could long jump on the very edge and stop instantaneously and do that grind roll on the closer edge from where they reach the pillar, but if they didn't spend a single running frame after that long jump landed, no time must be wasted on this side either. I don't know if anyone understands what i'm trying to say

Also, while searching for that video, I randomly saw this other one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqUIWdcUbpM Maybe it can save some time.
This is quite old, (obviously from the upload date), but if you find markushobelsberger on youtube, he has a video of many other places in the game that it can be done, but I don't really how it could save time?

So I watched the 120 star WIP. Didn't like the camera angles, would vote No.

I sincerely hope that was a joke/reference in regard to the 0 Star situation from the past.

Well the camera angles were pretty bad in some instances. It wouldn't cause me to vote no, but it would cause me to be annoyed.

I don't get it. The run isn't even 30 stars in — that's less than 25% done — and you already feel like you can justifiably say "No" to the entire finished thing because of some camera angles? That has to be a joke. That's like sitting down for dinner and saying, "Nope, don't like the food. The seats aren't as comfortable as I'd like." What would you prefer instead? That they email you personally before every frame asking, "Sir, which camera angle would you like now?" Please, tell me how you can possibly feel justified in saying no. This is an honest query; I really want to understand how you feel you can turn down a run because a bit of it wasn't framed exactly how you wanted it. And if you really wanted to help instead of babble, you could at least specify the segments you felt had bad camera angles, so people could be more aware of what others don't like. You know, contribute; provide constructive criticism.

Nahoc, your interpretation is correct and thank you for looking into it.

GMan, The Committee of Horrible Analogies and Insane Ranting called, they wanted to get in touch with you. Something about a forum post or something. I gave them your number. Just a heads up, Fabian

Where can I contact said committee? I'd like to give the CEO a high-five.

just came across this old video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81d1BUa2OQs top comment: "Interesting... Is it possible to stand on the front edge of the top of the 4x4 and kick it over, then die in mid-air?" I'd like to know aswell, is there a video of someone trying it?

Mario will just go through the plank, a la King Whomp.
doesn't that work because of the butt-stomp move? it does the same with a jump kick?

You can do it with any kind of jump.

Yeah, jumping through Whomp was the standard way to defeat him.

For anyone that cares, sm64.org is hosting an SM74 (hack) competition here. The discussion topic can be found here. Here's my run for Task 1 (1st place): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNiDHvU7jJg

I found the pipe in BitFS by BLJing and going out of bounds. Too bad the warp trigger isn't there. The thing I don't understand is how I got to the third tier of the level from BLJing at the second. Anyways, video here.

It wouldn't be legal anyway since its not theoretically possible to do on console.

The game is supposed to crash whenever Mario goes out of bounds. I believe one of the Super Mario Land runs was rejected due to a glitch that wasn't possible on orginal hardware.

*It would be legal if TASed on Dolphin with the Virtual Console version. =) *Please don't take this post seriously. Edit: Here are compilations for Task 1 of the competition I mentioned earlier: Top 5 + Splitscreen Top 3 (No splitscreen) I made 2 to see which kind people would prefer (short and simple, or longer and a bit more complex).

So at the end, is that thing that Mario ground-pounded on the pipe?
