The SM64 videos are starting to scare me...

Has someone tried to glitch into the "switch palace" level outside of the castle before collecting any stars or Bowser keys? The game might assume that you previously lowered the water level then... or you might start to swim on exiting, and when touching the ground, the "I got a star" animation might start (if you collected the star), allowing you to stand in water for a short time. I don't know if that is even possible... In any case, this would save time for the 120 stars run, as you would never have to leave the castle.

I tried something like that in March 2010. I added a pipe outside the castle with Toad's Tool 64 and made it lead to the Vanish Cap stage, then got the red coin star. Mario jumped out of the "hole" and was standing under water for the star animation, but right after it ended, he teleported to the top of the water in his swimming animation on the first movement frame. Edit: I just realized it looks like Mario has an arm cannon in that pic...

You didn't need test that because of what happens when Mario exits BitFS during the 0 star run.

I'm curious if you could hack a bob-omb outside the castle, and turn it into the moat door and see if you could throw the door and be warped inside.

I posted this on Mam's most recent video but it never got answered, so I am posting here to see if someone can educate me. So what makes these wall seams wall jumpable like used here and in TTC? Could this jump not be done on the corner of the platform that mario grabs on to? If done on the right side you could get one of these glitchy wall jumps and land on top of the platform. Of course I am sure you guys have already tried this, or know it is not possible. I am just wondering where these type of wall jumps are possible. Are they just random locations or is there a defining characteristic of the seam that makes these possible?

Glitch Wall Kicks require proper positioning as well as proper angle (how strict each of these is seems to vary depending on the particular GWK). While it is theoretically possible to GWK on the corner of the platform as you mentioned, nobody has managed to do it, mainly because you have a very limited range of angles when jumping to that platform.

So theoretically you can do a GWK on any corner so long as you have the proper speed, angle, and position? However for some corners these criteria may be impossible to achieve? Also what determines the angle at which mario leaves these GWKs?

Very nice glitch, but would it really help reduce the TAS time? It looks to me like it would still be faster to enter/exit DDD.

That was found in January... Has anything that is actually new popped up lately? I haven't been keeping up with SM64 since around mid-July (aside from the 0 Star run...since I was an author).
