Thanks. I've noticed something was missing in the link. I have one question about Collect the Caps. Have the SM64 team ever tried BLJing up the sub (gaining speed) and wall jumping all around through the back wall into the star?
You can't BLJ on the sub. It's too slippery. Even if we could, you'd need something to do the speed conversion, since you can't wallkick with backwards speed.

Wow, I thought that underwater mesh could never be penetrated without the invisible cap.

Semi-unrelated, but I love this non-assisted video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yrvV7p_HMg

Yeah, apparently the link I posted became invalid after about a few hours, since YouTube just changed a lot of things on the site yesterday, and apparently a URL without "watch" is no longer valid. That means most of my links to YouTube videos on this site don't work anymore (I usually remove "watch" because it makes the link shorter and used to be unnecessary).

Ah. Have the team ever tried BJLing on the side of the tower/tail (with Bowser's face on it) to gain speed/momentum? Would that help?

That doesn't work either.

In the Talons of the Big Bird in 14"57 by nero I included "watch" in the link this time, since apparently I have to now.

You know that's non-TAS, right? Edit: Fuck yeah, first post on page 300. Dreams do come true.

Well, that's what I get for not reading the description.

How much of an improvement is that? Looks like a tiny optimisation to me.

It's not an improvement; it's a TWR (tied world record). Mickey still thinks that he can save 1 frame over the current published run, though.

It might be possible with some set of input. I've known since the first 0 star run that I was involved in that you can make it to the last ledge before the pipe a frame earlier (I was the first one to get the current BitS time, so I tested a lot). The problem is, Mario has too much speed and cannot make it over the wall and into the pipe. So with some harmony of speed and position, it could work, but the chances are low. It's similar to the BitDW BLJ dilemma of trying to make that turn with more backwards speed. But I will say that I believe the BitS frame is more likely than the BitDW frame.

Sorry to double post...but I have almost saved 2 frames on BitS. The problem is...I literally go THROUGH the pipe loading zone...so Mario won't stop. The 2 frames saved are from: 1. Getting to the ledge 1 frame sooner to BLJ into the pipe. 2. More speed so I clip the platform the pipe is on a frame sooner. But if I can't get into the loading zone...it's useless. I'm sure at least 1 frame will come out of this, but 2 might be tricky. I'll keep trying and keep you guys updated.

Really nice, SP! Looking forward to those 2 nasty frames...

Mickey thinks it might be possible to save more frames, so I'm going to wait to hex + submit a new 0 Star run with the improvements.

Ah, I see. I assumed it was an improvement since it was a newly published video. EDIT: Fantastic job on the new BitS, it amazes me that more and more frames keep getting shaved off this run.

When you finish the run, I'd like to run it on console. That way it can be console verified before the site even has it up.

There's usually at least 24 hours between submission and publishing, even for an obvious acceptance like a quicker SM64 any% :P

Movies can't be accepted or rejected for a minimum of 72 hours after submission now.

That's true as well (even though I seem to remember that admins and the senior judge don't need to wait 72 hours, but I might be wrong), besides I've never seen a movie accepted any faster than that anyway. That said, gotta love all those improvements. I'm still dreaming of sub-5 minutes.
