Is it maybe possible to do that pole zip trick without pressing A? What really causes that to occur?

Probably not possible. The zip-glitch comes from the fact that you are grabbing the ceiling of the cage. To grab a ceiling in SM64 you have to press "A". I've been trying to find a way to beat BitFS with 0 presses since this morning, but really I don't see a way. Good luck guys!

Well I don't really know every state Mario can be at in the air. Maybe there's some air state where he can actually wire grab (So that we can 0.5x for 120 stars)?

Thanks Cohan, we'll definitely need that.

Does climbing a pole negate VSC? I imagine it does, seeing as how you need to move the control stick, though.

Does playing around on the wobbly platform next to the pole let you build up to anything useful?

Any chance at all for BitFS 0xA?
Nobody has a clue on how to get past it at the moment. It just seems a pretty tall pole which you HAVE to grab... I think we need something new for this, probably the glitches we know so far are not enough. If only there was a way to build vertical speed while on the ground...
Or some old obscure glitch found on some youtube glitch compilation video. :P Is there any place that compiles glitches for this game? Other than youtube?

You probably can build speed without pressing A. However, after a short period of time the trick doesn't work and it resets your speed. Probably there's a way to do it but how can that even be helpful? We can't transfer vertical to horizontal speed without pressing A.

Wouldn't angling the ramp convert horizontal speed to vertical?

Absolutely no, that's not how Mario 64 physics work. Sadly. :v

Considering 2 very old tricks found by Japanese TASers have improved ABCs recently, how about someone contact them to check their opinions on BitFS?

The goal with these new goomba technologies is to make Mario Wings to the Sky 0x A Presses.

I wonder was snark/ToT's 5:00:36 TAS done in Mupen or BizHawk, since Mupen would end up reporting a faster time due to general inaccuracy (noticeable when played back on console). How close is sub 5 not counting mupen timing?
