In JP only you can create the 100 coin star multiple times, because your number of counts wraps around after you get 65535. This used to save an a press in getting to the top of whomp's fortress, but luckily a strategy that doesn't require days of playing straight was discovered. It might be useful elsewhere though?
i don't get this^,i thought there weren't coins enough for you to get 100 coin star infinitely,or is it just spawning a black star to use for glitches/exploits?

I believe he is using a hack where he can press L to die instantly. Since his goal is to practice speed run strats, this hack allows for fast resetting if he messes up.
