Hmm, using a shell for speed is nice. But my favorite part was the perfect jump on the wing cap box.

Very innovative Myles, really entertaining clip :) Something tells me that you should give some of current categories for this game a try.

How do you put this timer in the videos? Is it accurate?

.... since there is no tenth second shown until the end it looks like the digits are manually changed?

About same time as going to the cannon... i'm having trouble to optimize it though, i lose some time on it, but i don't know how much faster it can be.

To FILIMONAS and asteron, I use Windows Movie Maker to add the timer. I click "Make titles or credits" and use the subtitle option. Then I make a bunch of titles that are exactly one second long. So yeah, I manually change the digits. I've checked many times though and the digits on the vid play accurately. Manually creating the digits every time I want to make a speed run vid would be time-consuming and a hassle, so I have a saved project on my computer that has all the digits counting up to a minute with a blank screen. Then, when I want to make my speed run vid, I just add the uncompressed video to the timer project and save the movie file, but I don't save any changes to the actual timer project so that it will remain blank for future use. Anyway I hope that answers your questions. Myles

It's actually faster to get the star "Metal-Head Mario Can Move!" on Hazy Maze without the Metal Cap. Check it out: Without: http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0LH75IU0J4Z74341053A3DYR57 With: http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2W5J2QGZKH3X43N697K2K8TT34 Myles P.S...Maybe you guys already knew this lol...

Yea thanks but it was already known. :) Have you watched the testrun? it's 2 hours and 10 minutes long, i would really apreciate if you could watch it... you've been giving some good advice here, it would be cool if you could check on the route and help us think if the castle route is good. I think the biggest question mark on it is the ghost house, but i'm probably gonna make it after the whole basement is finished.

Wouldn't it be beneficial to use the bljing on the elevator to get up the mountain faster for the King Bob-Omb (and maybe KTQ if you can figure out the effects you have on his speed)?

Yea that's what i'm doing. At least for bob-omb king. About KTQ, i'm not sure if it's faster to do 100 coins + KTQ or 100 coins + 8 red coins. I'm testing both routes...

test24 is the complete testrun that gets 120 stars. It was made even before the v1, i made it to test the route through the castle. Anyway, it was kinda impossible to get 100 coins + KTQ race, so what's left to test on that race is if it's faster to finish the race and then come back to the begginning of the level to talk to the bob-omb. That will be quite simple. What's giving me nightmares on bob-omb battefield is these stars: - 8 red coins - 100 coins - mario wings to the sky On my sloppy test attempts, i tried these two routes: - 8 red coins + 100 coins and THEN mario wings to the sky - mario wings to the sky + 100 coins and THEN 8 red coins both routes were pretty close in length, so i guess i'm gonna have to optimize both of them to be sure which one is faster...

For the KTQ: Why don't you get to the top as fast as you can (using no teleports, so that you get all the coins the way up) and win the KTQ as quick as you can, then go back to get the rest of the 100 coins and return to the top to receive the star.

sounds like a lot of moving. finishing as fast as possible is not the best way to go. to get 100 coins it takes way longer than the time waiting for koopa there.. so IF i do KTQ + 100 coins it would be: - talk to bob-omb - talk to koopa the quick - get as many coins as i can, far from the top of the mountain - finish the race - get more coins, get the 100 coins star - get the race star

Is KTQ the slowest star in Bobomb Battlefield? If so, then you have no choice but get the 100 coins during that star. I mean, even if KTQ goes slower when you are behind him, the amount of downtime, nonetheless means it's almost imperative that you do the 100 coin star in the same star. But I'm sure you knew that. Now the question is, what's the best coin route such that KTQ doesn't slow down Maybe: talk to KTQ, box coins, 2 goombas coins, bridge coins, red coins in the field, circle the pole coins in the field, circle the mountain coins, top of the island coins (can you even open the cannon?), get KTQ star, finish 100 coin star. I have no clue if that works. You have to keep ahead of KTQ as much as possible, right?
