I hope this run gets some work done on it, it's my favorite WIP (Far more action going on than zelda, although the sequence breaks in zelda are hot) FODA keep up the great work =)

Speaking of which I found while fooling around on Tall Tall Mountain that your forward speed apparently doesn't have its usual cap when you're sliding to a stop after pushing c^. However, you'd need to go pretty far out of your way to abuse it .

I figured out something that'll save at least 45 second from HMC. I'll post a vid of it tomorrow...

I don't know if this is already known but I wonder if the glitch at the end of the video has any use, its just a very quick way to enter the ness room, but its still difficult even in frame advance since I often incremented the jump counter too much so that Mario passed directly through the room and out of the boundaries resulting in an instant death. This shows how to get to the Metal cap palace early, but I wonder if its possible to fly directly into the star. It probally still wastes more time than heading there directly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcP0QOCI9XM

yea it's known, that is the shortcut to use in HMC. it's perfectly possible to fall exactly on the star. But thanks for sharing, i'll get back to it soon.

I'm almost sure I've done that on a console before, except I think I missed the metal cap platform to the right.

Will you actually be using it? Since that would look really cool if you flew directly into the star, although I couldn't put any real certainty if its actually doable, and even if it is, it would probally take 1000's of re-records to get it done. Whats bits have actually caused you the most trouble? Since I tried to do that hyper speed glitch in BoB but I couldn't build up and maintain the speed nearly enough to reach King Bomb Omb. I couldn't even get past the Chain Chomp with it. Also can that elavator in Whomps Fortress be used for anything?

It won't be hard to do it, and yes, it'll be very usefull. The elevator in whomp's fortress is useless because there's gap between it and the wall, so i can't push against a wall while it's going up...

It's probably useless because this is a TAS, but I found a way to get to the platform leading to the Cavern without the Sea Monster on a normal console. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI87IWd7LNw

OMG, I just tried the BLJ on a console (no turbo controllers), and I got it the first time! And the second time! And on, and on, and on. If you aim right, it's incredibly easy to do. Also, I made a little discovery. It looks like the room with the "Metal-Head Mario can move!" has no ceiling, just invisible walls that prevent wall kicking up to...wherever. Because of that, I'm thinking an incredibly well-timed BLJ could get Mario to land directly on that star.

Sounds impressive, I thought that wouldn't be possible on a console since by the time the right speed is gained Mario would be too high up the elavator and would simply go right through the ness room. I doubt it could be used to go directly into the Green Cap Palace, since the area probally isn't loaded. I also doubt that its possible to go directly into the star, you would have to get 100 BLJ's within 2 seconds, which is mathmatically impossible. The chances are that Mario will need to fall onto the star. It would be good if you showed a video of what you've been able to do on a console.

It definitely couldn't go into the room leading to the Metal Cap Cavern, because there's a firm wall blocking it. But I'm still not giving up on the "BLJ right onto Metal Head Mario Can Move"... And, sure, I'll make a video doing it again on the console. It looks almost identical to yours. Oh, I timed it, and it takes waaaaay shorter time to BLJ to the platform leading the to Metal Cap, jump on the Sea Monster, and hop onto the sunken island than it does to go the normal way, even if you perfectly got onto the island without the sea monster.

if you read it where 1=A 2=B ect... and you divide each of the numbers by 4(round) it spells a dirty message.

If it does I'd be very suprised. Condering I generated that string with the following program:
#!/usr/bin/perl

use strict;
use List::Util 'shuffle';

if ($ARGV[1] <= 1 || $ARGV[1] > $ARGV[0]) {
        $_ = int(rand($ARGV[0])+1);print "$_\n";
} else {
        @_ = shuffle(1..$ARGV[0]);
        print "$_[$_] " foreach (1..$ARGV[1]);
        print "\n";
}
Using 1000 and 256 as parameters.

Yeah - no way it spells a message - 1000/4 = 250 >> 26. It does give you ascii character codes, but that's mostly garbage (of course).
