Anyway, what exactly does come next? WDW? And something to ponder on... What's more efficient? Getting the 100 coins with the Secrets, the Top of the Town, or the Red Coins?

What would be interesting is if after you get the key to TTC and RR, you don't use it. You just use the stair+longjump door glitch to get through the door. It *might* be faster, as you skip the whole door animation. If it is indeed faster, you could do it on the infinite staircase too :).

...the key to get to TTC and RR? You don't need a key for that door, you need stars... And FODA already did that in the preliminary 120-star run.

Whoops, I guess stars then... Sorry, I was half asleep. And if FODA already did that, I guess that's where I got the idea from. ;)

I have to wonder if that moving platform really has to be waited on for so long. Is there no way to reach the red coin over there by using wall kicks on the poles hanging from the ceiling?
those poles are just visual, there's no collision to them.

I've remade HMC because i knew there was imperfect stuff there, and when filimonas pointed out so many errors, i just had to. 12.9 seconds saved!! there are still errors but i won't tamper with it anymore. 81 stars wip Wet dry world completed, but comments are welcome again :) Btw, you can use the HMC savestate.

Excellent job! I couldn't imagine this improvement! HMC looks great now. To WDW: 1)Secrets: Why don't you use the "elevator" method to get up to the platform with the 5th secret point? This also may apply for the "top of the town" star. Getting up the slope seems slow. You can also long jump after the 2nd secret. It seems you have plenty of distance for a long jump. You can also wall kick up to the chuckya, instead of backflip (not sure if this is faster). 2)Race star:Did you check the chuckya glitch? You may get the race star faster. 3)Red coins & Race star: If the water was in the middle, wouldn't it be faster to get to the pipe? (you have to swim a litlle more though). 4)Red coins:Can't you brake the 2nd box without butt stomp? The animation seems slow. You can also improve the air kick to the star (do the kick later). 5)Elevator: Can't you start the wall kicks earlier? With a good angle you may bypass the elevator that comes down and land on the platform with the star.

I'm glad you remade the HMC. It's much better than before - and I'm definitely not saying it was bad before. The WDW was also awsome. The second star really made me laugh. Boosting speed from that tiny slope to reach that far-away platform. I also like the way you use the camera. By lockin it in the beginning (at 4th or 5th star) looked soo good after seeing the same route twice before from the back of Mario.
Which run should I encode next? :)

It seems you found a way to groundpound without getting hurt in the 100 coin star in HMC. Would this be repeatable on the red coin star in HMC, when you are pounding those blocks? It would probably not warrant much of an improvement, though. It's the only potential improvement I noticed. I don't know jack about WDW, but that trick to get to the top of "shocking arrow lifts" was awesome!

1)Secrets: Why don't you use the "elevator" method to get up to the platform with the 5th secret point? This also may apply for the "top of the town" star. Getting up the slope seems slow. for top of the town it's not possible because i wouldn't have enough speed to get to the plataform with the star. for the secrets star, i think you're right. You can also long jump after the 2nd secret. It seems you have plenty of distance for a long jump. unfortunately, there isn't... You can also wall kick up to the chuckya, instead of backflip (not sure if this is faster). yea, i've tried that, but the backflip was faster 2)Race star:Did you check the chuckya glitch? You may get the race star faster. i think this will be a pain to do, but i'll try. I hope it works quickly 3)Red coins & Race star: If the water was in the middle, wouldn't it be faster to get to the pipe? (you have to swim a litlle more though). i don't think it would be faster but i'll test it 4)Red coins:Can't you brake the 2nd box without butt stomp? The animation seems slow. You can also improve the air kick to the star (do the kick later). I guess i could have done the butt stomp from the top of the box, maybe with a backflip so i can get the red coin right away. kicking the box sure is a bad idea because that throws me walking backwards, which is always bad. for the last kick to the star, yea, that will have to be worked on harder, i was trying to do a backflip and then dive to the star, but i couldn't 5)Elevator: Can't you start the wall kicks earlier? With a good angle you may bypass the elevator that comes down and land on the platform with the star i'm not sure if that's faster but i'll try. you mean, start the longjumping from the ground, right? i'll check it out. It seems you found a way to groundpound without getting hurt in the 100 coin star in HMC. Would this be repeatable on the red coin star in HMC, when you are pounding those blocks? It would probably not warrant much of an improvement, though. It's the only potential improvement I noticed. yea, i discovered it during the 100 coin route, it's one of the imperfections. : / I don't know jack about WDW, but that trick to get to the top of "shocking arrow lifts" was awesome! it's the teleporter. i have a vid of Myles Bukrim doing that same route (different jumping) and i'm sure others speedrunners have got it like that too, it's simple :)

Everything was awesome, and I didn't even know about that WDW teleport, but couldn't you have gotten the elevator star or gone through the grating to the city with the red coins with a blj? edit:

He means going down to the bottom and wallkicking before the left elevator reaches the bottom

if you mean the zipping glitch, nope, it only works on upwards moving plataforms or stairs/certain slopes Just checked: after 81 stars (i'm gonna remake WDW to improve) the TAS is 17:26 minutes faster than the testrun (which is 2 hours and 10 minutes long).

Oh, I knew about the warp... I was refering to the jump to the top of the highest platform, where you slide down a boundary edge. That was unexpected, and it looked cool. Test run is 2 hours 10 minutes! Better watch out FODA, the new speedrun is clocked at 2 minutes 13 seconds ;).

It looks you'll end up with a sub 1:40 run.

Simple math would say that if the same improvement rate is kept until the end of the run, the final time will be 1:46. But i think the most improveable stars have passed already. I don't expect it to even reach that, it should be slower than 1:46.

That was a fun improvement to HMC. Entering the hazy maze cave mid-way through was definitely surprising. You added a lot more acrobatics to the 8 red coin star. It seemed like the camera angle changed more frequently in the new run, which was a bit distracting. You seemed to be making a point of showing that the metal cap switch wasn't activated yet by swinging the camera to show the metal cap box as soon as the level started. It was still fun to watch, but I like the camera to stay reasonably still so that I can focus on Mario and not the background changes when the camera swings around. WDW was awesome. All these years and I didn't know about the teleport to the cannon! Jumping all the way to the star at the top of the town was awesome, and the 100 coin run was possibly my favorite star yet. The only time it ever slowed down was to grab and throw the Chuckya. Terrific stuff.

I can't believe some people didn't know about the warp... Anyway, this was real nice, and the new HMC was an excellent improvement over the old one.

Just finished watching your whole wip (fastforwarded only 2-3 times) and just wanted to express how much I love this run. Its beautiful.. Funniest thing in the whole run was when you walked backwards on that mini mountain :)

Anyone know how to drop Chuckya without killing him?
