Heh, that's been known for quite a while. It doesn't do much exept blast you to opposite ends of the level. You can't achieve any further elevation.

What's the point of this video? every pillar is hollowed, we're not gonna show mario inside every and each one of them are we. Anyway, i'd like some comment on the 100 coin route of SML, i'm at it now. 101 stars already done.

Just finished a 70 star run... This one concentrates more on tricks than time; working on another one that concentrates more on the latter. If you're bored, check it out: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2683/70%20Star%20Run%20-%20V7.m64. My first TAS run, so it's fairly bad; the TAS Plugin wasn't used, just slowdown, so it's nothing like a FODA- or AKA-style run. Some credit goes to a guy named Swordless Link, who did a few stars in here.

mr_robert_z: apart from a few moments, it is, I'm sorry to say, very obvious that frame advance isn't used. I watched it all and it's definitely good for something that only used slow down. I guess my main problem with it is that I just don't understand the need for a 70-star run for this game, especially when you blj through doors and stuff.

Heh, I never said frame advance was used...it wasn't. Yeah, the BLJ through the door was a mistake. It was to save time, but I see that it sort of defeats the purpose.

Yes I'm not uploading the next WIP, but on SSL I made no improvement on the "A top of the Pyramid star" but I made a 16 frame improvement on the Talon bird star (0.53 secs), I'm pretty sure I nailed the shy guy and the Talon Bird in perfect timing because I after several attempts to get back to the pyramid I barely made it on the upper walkway.

I made that Video because, at that point, I was the first one to test Mr_Robertz_Z's amazing glitch, so I had to prove to everyone on Gamefaqs that using this glitch you can get into virtually anywhere in loaded area of the Castle. I wouldn't've made that video if it wasn't before AKA tested it being possible to get into bowser with 0 stars or anything else.

Nice progress, AKA. Your projected final time is shorter than i would expect. On the 120 stars side, i forgot to post the testing of snowman's land. it has been done for almost 2 weeks now... *sigh* good news is it's in video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0B65ToliaE it's just a test, comments are welcome.
This is what I noticed: 97)After the first triple jump you get up the wooden platform. Why do you use a backflip up there to start a new triple jump? Line up Mario correctly and do a regular triple jump to get up to the snowman. 98)You didn't time it right and you are not in the correct position to get the star immediately after it appears. After you push the Bully down, stay still for a couple of frames and Mario will be able to move faster to the star. You'll be able to get it without moving after it appears. 100)Try the method mentioned before and get over these green hills. 101)It seems that you don't follow a straight line after the star appears. It may be just me though 102) -The last snowman seems very slow, since you can't do anything until the coins appear. Instead take the 3 coins inside the igloo from the box near the pink bomb-omb. I am sure this will be faster. -Inside the igloo: When you long jump above the goomba go right and not straight. You can kill the spindrift and jump to the vanish cap. -When you fall you can butt-stomp to break the cap box so that you don't have to jump again. -Another tip: you can collect 2 rows of coins with a single jump if you stand in the middle.

I'm glad we think alike (almost) because i went on a production rampage and finished snowman's land already, along with 3 tick tock clock stars. About your comments: 97) yea, that was terrible, but it's much faster now, the star is 11.2 seconds according to sm64.com timing. 98) i've fixed that. after i push him, i do some jumps i don't even need to turn, i just do 2 jumps backwards and i'm right below the star when it appears. 100) yea, it worked nicely. great idea. 101) that was just a testrun, it's hard to optimize angles while thinking of other stuff 102) a) i've completely changed the route, but i still have a lonely snowman giving me 3 coins. i don't see how it would be faster to get that box inside the igloo, it's too much out of the way. b) humm different route? i must've missed this. but now i do a wallkick after jumping over the goomba, it wasn't slow at all. c) butt stomping to get the cap. exactly what i did :) d) collecting the last coins: i've done it with just 2 jumps now, it looks fast. the whole 100 coin is 45 seconds shorter than sm64.com speedrun record. On Tick Tock Clock i'm doing basically every star with the clocks hands pointing down (ramdom parts behaviour). This is conveniently what happens if i reenter the level as soon as possible, and it allows me to manipulate things inside the clock. Also, i'm using the red coins plataforms route for every star too. it's just so fast.

that's going to look really neat with all the parts moving

Just watched both WIPs. AKA, it's amazing to see all of the little improvements adding up (as well as the major things like BLJing into rooms). Just out of curiousity, how many frames were saved by re-entering WF and exiting to the lobby versus just turning around and heading directly for the door to the basement? I'm sure it's faster, but the wait time during the level select screen feels slow. Awesome job so far. FODA, it's great to see you getting so close to 120! This has been a long project and it's star material from beginning to end. We've been really spoiled by having WIPs from two different runs to keep us entertained while you've been producing a run that is both technically excellent and esthetically pleasing. The camera angles are excellent as usual.

Never mind, I'm stupid. I forgot that you had used BLJ to avoid unlocking the door.

Wouldn't it have been quicker to do a A+B when re-entering TTC.

just wondering ... with the stomp the thwomp star, is there any way you could triple jump to the wall behind the thwomp, and then repeatedly wall kick between that wall and the thwomp all the way to the star?

I've already done that and it would be surely faster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG7dMUGo0fU

Quick update, I've finally reached DDD, I improved one frame on the " A-mazing exit star" and three on the "watch for falling boulders, for the MIPS glitches, I improved them by 17 frames overall, so I'm aproximately 38.75 ahead at the moment. Now to see if I can get it to 40.

If you're refering to me then then here's my most recent m64, I won't upload again until the run is complete. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2674/SUPER%20MARIO%2064%20%28USA%29.m64
