This is a TAS of a Fairly OddParents game... self explanatory. This is also the first sub (i assume) that uses endrift's new mGBA core on BizHawk... syncs just fine. The TAS is technically sub 37, but i can't seem to skip the BIOS intro...
This TAS uses a Gyro, which saved a bunch of time, and also screws up the Bronze Knee Cap.

Stage by stage comments

Episode 1

All tricks were discovered here. I buy in the 1st stage a the Gyro, which I use in that stage and use it later in the run.

Episode 2

This is where you first collect key items. On the Boss I can't use the powerup item because of the now accurate loading times.

Episode 3

SCREW THE MAJOR

Episode 4

There's a shooter stage, which I cannot really entertain because I need to hit alot of stuff. also, SCREW THE BRONZE KNEE CAP.

Episode 5

The boss strats on this one are reversed, and SCREW THE BRONZE KNEE CAP AGAIN.

Special Thanks:

...to CoolKirby, for being the only guy that got interested and to post motivating feedback in the thread. I also want to thank and apologize to Jules. Thank you for discovering and further this game. I'm so sorry for being so aggressive and mad towards you. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way and I sincerely hope you're doing well. I hope you can forgive me to what I said to you.

I will let you choose this one.

tnx 4 watching... I hope you like it... it wasn't all that easy as it seems since I'm still a total Rookie. Next will be between Coca Cola Kid and Pocket Monster 2, I have VBoy to do left but stuff that not right now...
BTW, if some expert TASer can work on Breakin' Da Rules instead of me that would be awesome... That game begs to be TASed and be Starred.
thnx 4 watching... again.

ars4326: Hello, Kurabu. First off, I liked the game choice (I used to get a kick out of watching the Nick show!) and could tell that you put some considerable effort into this. With that said, after watching this movie multiple times and considering the feedback given in the thread, I've gotta be honest in declaring that this run needs another pass through to be up to site standards for publication.
Aside from RobynS's test WIP which showed there's still optimizations that need to be found for x-speed (uncovering relevant addresses via RAM Watch is a must), I also came across a significant number of improvements involving further use of the gyro item. I've listed these finds in this thread. Other posters brought up additional technical quality issues as well, in which I hope you objectively consider and look to improve upon.
So all in all, I hope you take this constructively and work toward making a v2 improvement that's more polished. I'd love to soon see a better optimized run of this game from you (and I know you're, indeed, capable of it).
Rejecting due to sub-optimality.

dekutony, you can do better than that. Your problem is that you work on it too quickly and because of that you don't spend time learning basic tools like RAM Search (There is a wiki page for it and also a video tutorial). Two weeks of work is way to less, even if it's a simple platformer. I made two 32 mins TASes (one test run) in the span of a year, and when it was submitted people found some "obvious" improments. It is not nice to see after a year of work, but when I submitted the 3rd version a year later, I was really happy people mentioned the improvements, it led to movie of better quality. You shouldn't take valid negative critism as insults, but as a message to advance to better work.

Why are you expecting, every game you pick up must go to Stars? This game looked nothing interresting for Stars (based on a short video I watched), plus a expert TASer isn't needed to do it.

So we got a little derailed on the topic, but what does everyone think about this run's entertainment value?

I'm still waiting for an encode myself, so I can't say much for the entertainment. Also Kurabupengin if a rom has the [ b ] by it, It means it's a bad rom dump btw. It's not a good idea to use that one specifically if it has that. http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html The movie rules even mentions that the ROM must not be a bad dump.

Actually regarding that, I just downloaded a ROM that doesn't say [ b ] on it, and it resulted to be the same ROM, so it syncs with the one I just got. A bad dump would be the Mode7 dump, which I didn't used.

Okay I was just making sure. If you say it's the same one without the [ b ]. Then everything is good.

Link to video Sorry about the low quality. An HD encode would have been absolutely massive and given that my connection's been really spotty for a few weeks I doubt I would've been able to get it uploaded.

Okay! I redid everything in 1-1 after buying the gyro (the rest of it is this submission's input) and saved 30 frames from less jumping. NOTE: I didn't take the time to make this as fast as possible, I just wanted to rush it out. This should NOT be used as a measure of how big a frame-perfect improvement of this TAS would be. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/24716694224062329
Considering this exists, I hope the TAS is not accepted on a basis of unoptimization, but in case it’s accepted anyway, how would this be integrated with the submission? The file exists and is uploaded, so the current submission does not “beat all known records” as per rules. So if this run is accepted it’d have to at least incorporate that improvement, but then co-authorship comes up… Dekutony, I think you should cancel this submission.

Run right for justice about sums it up. Occasionally climb a ladder or fight a boss by faceplanting into it. Even if the movement was optimized, there aren't any even slightly interesting mechanics or gameplay here. Some of the hits taken seem a little dodgy to me in places too.

Kurabu, here is a collection of improvements that I found (not including x-speed optimizations) over the course of the run. These are rough estimates, and most involve strategic use of the gyro. On your 2nd pass through (and I hope you're up for doing it!), make note of these: Stage 1-1 - At the point where you first use the gyro, you can save roughly 40 frames by riding it all the way up the top of the next building, instead of jumping onto the adjacent platform over to the left, first. Stage 2-1 - In the 3rd area near the beginning, you can use the gyro immediately after slipping past the hovering goat icon and hover up to the next platform (hoping the remaining ones to reach the exit). This saves roughly 140 frames. - Likewise, upon immediately entering the 5th area, you can immediately use the gyro to fly up and left toward the exit, above. This saves roughly 130 frames. Stage 2-2 - In the 7th area (frame: 35060), you can save a little time (25 frames, or so) by going off the ledge and down to the next platform to make a running jump. This should allow you to have enough clearance to reach the floating platform without dropping down into the pit to take damage. Stage 3-2 - At around frame 59500, there's a direct opportunity to enter a shop and restock on another gyro (if needed). - In the area where you need to mount the swan to cross the river (frame: 60k), you can save time by activating the gyro and fly across, instead (you can avoid the two pairs of bees by hovering low toward the bottom). This saves roughly 100 frames. Also, there's another shop available in the next screen, in case this would be a faster way to re-stock. Stage 4-2 - In the area with the fist power-up (frame: 88150), there's a little trick I uncovered where you can bypass Timmy's smiling "item obtainment" animation by briefly engaging the gyro and flying diagonally upwards toward it (this will cancel the animation from occurring). This can save roughly 15 frames here, but may have other uses elsewhere. - In the vertical passageway where you use the gyro (frame: 89560), you can save roughly 125 frames by continuing to hover toward the exit, instead of canceling it early. Stage 4-3 - In the large room with the conveyor belts near the beginning (frame: 93070), you can briefly use the gyro while on the conveyor belt, below the fist power-up, to fly past it and avoid getting it, entirely (since there's no boss fight in this stage). Doing so saves roughly 65 frames. Stage 4-4 - Near the middle of the stage (frame:100k), 120 frames can roughly be saved by immediately activating the gyro and flying up to the next platform. Stage 5-2 - In the multi-storied room with the shooting flame vents (frame: 112k), it's roughly 80 frames faster to gyro up to both of the higher platforms, instead of hitting the switches and waiting. Stage 5-3 - Near the beginning (frame: 118900), it's roughly 145 frames faster to immediately activate the gyro and hover upward toward the first ladder. - A few rooms later (frame: 119460), it's significantly faster to use the gyro here to hover upward directly toward the exit. Roughly, this saves 360 frames. - Later on as well (frame: 120760), the gyro can be used to, again, hover up to the top toward the exit, saving roughly 130 frames. Stage 5-4 - In this area in the final stage (frame: 128100), it's roughly 230 frames faster to head immediately right and hop up on the platform containing the invincibility power-up. From here, a quick use of the gyro will take you to the very top platform. Although this could affect how much gyro you have left for that vertical shaft room, near the end. You'll may need to compare times here, and figure out the fastest method. - Finally, there's one last shop available before the final boss fight with the Bronze Kneecap. I'm aware that the shop sells two attack items; the Baseball Bat and the Megaphone. I'm not sure if these could possibly save time, but it's worth looking into.

Thank you so much for finding these improvements, but... the thing is... I don't want to come back to this game. i think that was as much as I could take... sorry. Another thing is the gyro itself. You get only 10 seconds and using it in all these instances would be inpossible... unless another one is bought. But you know what? It's fine. I learned so much with this submission. Actually, you and RobynS could work toguether for a v2 TAS! :D Anyways, thank you so much for you time and have a nice weekend, sir!
