You thought last time was it. Well you are wrong, accurate emulation comes in to save the day!

The Stuff:

  • Bios: SCPH7003 (NTSC-U bios)
  • Hardest Difficulty
  • Goes for in-game time
  • Goes for speed instead of entertainment aka going for Vault
  • Heavy Luck manipulation
Typical mumbo-jumbo Tekken stuff happened, no point in explaining anything other than accurate emulation actually corrects the main issue with the psxjin TAS which was lag frames at True Ogre creating an incorrect frame time and a ingame time that was effected by the lag.
Commentary.
Note: Not adjusted to account for encoder's logo and PS1 bios.

ars4326: Judging!
ars4326: Hello, Spikestuff. All in all, the run remains as a fairly entertaining gauntlet where seppuku, remarkably, is the quickest path to victory. At least we know now that Yoshimitsu is performing it more accurately :p
Accepting as a technical improvement (more accurate emulation) over the published run!
fsvgm777: Processing.

I don't remember the scene depicted here, albeit I haven't yet watched Yotsugi Doll or Suruga Devil. Is it from one of those or am I just forgetting?

Hm, is this the first submission to use PSXHawk? Spikestuff, what display settings did you use to dump AVI (PSX -> Options)? I don't know which setting is supposed to be standard. Also, I figured out that some of the display settings may affect sync in some games (it doesn't in Tekken 3, at least for your movie). Also, I never knew that this game actually used interlaced video. Maybe make a deinterlaced version of the encode?

Second.

Yea, might as well do that. I don't know the proper method to deal with that but I have a temporary solution with VirtualDub. Switched. That's how it actually displayed within Hawk, never noticed it on actual hardware though. In terms of syncing you can use any video option and it will sync, thankfully it's not like Mupen but for which one we're meant to use I don't honestly know.

King of the iron "fist" tournament. Not sure why all the hate, really watching Yoshi be Yoshi is still pretty amusing.

Man, I haven't seen this many false suicides used to decimate enemies since my last playthrough of Persona 3. Despite being a speed-oriented fighting game TAS, I still find the idea of repeated, quick OHKOs to be fascinatingly entertaining. Unlike something like, say, Guilty Gear, everything was done quickly enough to not get boring. The fact that the run is now (supposedly) completely perfect in in-game time adds to the enjoyment for me. Such aesthetically pleasing numbers! Voted Yes because I actually was entertained.

Question about the framerate. BizHawk says that the framerate is 59.2928626fps. With this TAS being 8462 frames, this gives a time of 2:22.715. However, the site parser uses 60.0fps, giving a time of 2:21.03. Which is correct?

It’s from “Monogatari Series: Second Season”. The “Onimonogatari” story.

Thanks. Onimonogatari is the Shinobu Time story, right?
