Hello TASVideos friends. I finally bought a new computer and I'm starting to use the Dolphin, with the appropriate settings and a good computer emulator works well but I have a cruel doubt: I know use frame advance but at the Dolphin button does not work if I hold only it works by pressing "a frame yes, another frame no" only to walk and it is horrible to play. There's no way I use frame advance at Dolphin holding the button as it is in other emulators?

Dolphin frame advance was broken a long time ago in two manners. One is fixed, the other is still broken and makes tasing nigh impossible. 4.0 rev5400 or 5401 is apparently the last that works properly in both manners.

I'm hoping that we can merge in an input hack (yeah, a hack, because our input system is... pretty bad, honestly,) that will allow frame-advance to be special cased for how it is intended to be used by TASers.

It's just awful play with frame advance repeatedly pressing button, much better advance the frames holding the button like in another emulators. The version I'm using are the Dolphin 5.0-rc-33 and Dolphin 4.0-7844, I am testing these newer versions for fear of giving desync in other versions. Is possible to fix these frame advance problem?

There's a preliminary fix available, but it isn't available in the official Dolphin versions yet.

JosJuice said all, I suggest you actually to use 4.0-5400, it's the last known version where frame adance isn't broken ;)
Current: Rayman 3 maybe? idk xD Paused: N64 Rayman 2 (with Funnyhair) GBA SMA 4 : E Reader (With TehSeven) TASVideos is like a quicksand, you get in, but you cannot quit the sand

For me it works like on every other emu, except that there is a 1 frame delay when playing with keyboard (there seems to be no delay when using TAS Input window). When pressing a button from keyboard, then loading a state, the input will be executed on the loaded frame. Which is really annoying.

Holding the frame advance key is now working again, starting with 4.0-8061. The bug that makes Dolphin unpause sometimes when using frame advance is not fixed, though.
