It took me about 2 years to finish my MM4 run. However, It is not the few difficulties I met during the make process that took my lots of time but my work in the real life. I can finish my run successfully in this case because of those who helped me a lot. Thanks to:
Glitchman, Finalfighter, Paosidufygth and Baxter for giving many glitches;
mtvf1 and Pike for helping me to check;
And support and impetus from all Tasers.
The re-record count of new MM4 run is about 80000(30000+ in this file and 40000+ in other experimental files). Although the number is not very large, I am confident with the quality.
Compared with Glitchman's run made 5 years ago, there are few changes on route. Now the order is Pharaoh Man - Drill Man - Bright Man - Ring Man - Dust Man - Skull Man - Toad Man - Dive Man. This order is not necessary. For example, Drill Man can be placed in any position between Pharaoh Man and Skull Man. Toad Man and Dive Man can interchange. I took this order because it was with the best luck in all my experiments.
Usage of glitch
In this run, we can see more glitches are used.
1.There are 3 kinds of methods of passing through walls I used in Pharaoh Man, Drill Man, Bright Man, Dust Man, Skull Man and Dr. Wily Stage 3.
2.Use glitch of translation in Skull Man,Dr. Cossack Stage 4,Dr. Wily Stage 2.
3.Killing enemies by shooting in the opposite direction to avoid lags.
4.Make some enemies on the edge disappear.
5.Get scrolls in advance in the first 8 stages(In fact, it takes more time if including time the player spends switching weapons. However, it can help reduce lags. So it saves few frames in all).
6.Charged shot can still be used after changing weapons.
Drill Man
Use balloon in the former half of the stage and use Pharaoh in the latter half. Manipulate luck to make the boss die(Oh I forget he is also a robot. Maybe destroyed?) at the center of X coordinate.
Bright Man
Always make the boss take damage when he is exactly not invincible. Manipulate luck to make the boss die at the center of X coordinate.
Ring Man
Make good use of all balloons. Manipulate luck to make the boss die at the center of X coordinate.
Dust Man
Manipulate luck to make the boss die at the center of X coordinate.
Skull Man
Use RJ instead of Balloon. Manipulate luck to make the boss die at the center of X coordinate.
Dive Man
Spend 2266 frames getting WIRE.Manipulate luck to make the boss die at the center of X coordinate.
Dr. Cossack Stage 1
Don't switch into Bright weapon and use charged shot in the former half of the stage.
Dr. Cossack Stage 3
Restore the energy of balloon by 20 points instead of 28. Increase one time of attacking the second boss. The damages are 3+1+1+3+3+3. Both attacks of dealing 1 damage happen when too many lags are produced in order to reduce lags. Manipulate luck to make the boss die at the center of X coordinate.
Dr. Cossack Stage 4
Move the screen by pressing left and right. So there is no need to switch into balloon. And RJ can be used all the time before the boss. Switch into Dust when fight with the boss. And use slide to restrict the boss's move(Boss will stop horizontal move if megaman does even only one slide).
Dr. Wily Stage 1
Switch into Pharaoh after using Balloon. Attack the boss 12 times. They are:
Pharaoh(3+1+1+3+3)+charged shot(3+3)+Dust(2+2+2+2)+charged shot(3)
In this way, the boss can only shrink its head once.
Dr. Wily Stage 2
Always use RJ until fight with the boss. Use Toad to make Boss's hp full instantly.
Dr. Wily Stage 3
Avoid fights with 8 robots.
Noxxa: This TAS has practically everything. Great action, a decent and consistent pace, good displays of ammo management and control over the game, and tons of little tricks and glitches that cut down repetitiveness, make boss battles fast, and make the whole run a joy to watch. The action is technically slick and the game's wide array of time-saving glitches and tricks is used masterfully.
Accepting for Moons as an improvement to the
published run. I'd give it a decent chance to go beyond as well.
