I have talked about the 2 NES versions of Rampart, let's talk about the 2 Game Boy versions released years apart. Like the NES versions, they were released by different companies. Jaleco released two versions of the game, one on NES and the other on Game Boy. Separate versions on said platforms were released by Konami and Midway respectively. First, the Game Boy version by Jaleco was released in 1992. One year after the NES versions. There are a few added bonuses, like being able to choose your character, each having different stats. And instead of ships, You fight enemy soldiers and turrets. And there and features "borrowed" from the NES Konami version, like a timer over your home castle, and also treasure chests. Unlike the NES Konami version, one level has a treasure chest where surrounding it completes the level, these are worth bonus points. They're usually found near bushes. Also, some levels have an extra cannon inside. The Japanese version has Anime-style visuals, while the West has traditional medieval visuals. And there's a 2 player version. Sometimes in the repair phase, both players' clocks don't sync with each other. That's why there's a "Please Wait" screen after placing cannons. Also, let's don't forget the other Game Boy version by Midway, and it's in color. This version is a direct port of the arcade, but the sprites are microscopic. You begin by selecting your color. Then you choose your starting stage. This version has music, sounds, and voices taken from the source at a lower quality. It's amazing that these use up an entire sound channel. Which brings the capacity of this version to 1 megabyte, eight times more than the Jaleco version. Also, there is a way to beat the Midway version by doing absolutely nothing. The way it works is by setting the rank for blue or red to 3 or 4 and difficulty to easiest, then select either Red Game or Blue Game of what you set the rank, then pick "Veteran - Advanced level (+5000 bonus points)" and just let the game run on its own. It'll say "Red Army Conquers" or "Blue Army Conquers" for whatever color you picked. Link to video
