I know it won't happen, I'm just asking this as curiosity: what could be the reasons that would make not possible TASVideos IRC to Discord: it's better in almost every ways, only problem would be the bots for submissions in my opinion, but I'd like to see what you guys can found! :D
Current: Rayman 3 maybe? idk xD Paused: N64 Rayman 2 (with Funnyhair) GBA SMA 4 : E Reader (With TehSeven) TASVideos is like a quicksand, you get in, but you cannot quit the sand

For starters, everyone can use their favorite IRC client to connect, no need for special apps and crap.

It's pretty obvious that we all should stick to... Skype. :D Seriously now, DiscordApp and IRC have their advantages.

I think IRC works just fine, thank you. If we ever switch things up I'd throw in a vote for Slack... because it can be used from an IRC client. There's nothing wrong with IRC that needs fixing and it's still serving its intended purpose, hence my stance.
I was laid off in May 2023 and could use support via Patreon or onetime donations as I work on TASBot Re: and TASBot HD. I'm dwangoAC, part of the senior staff of TASVideos as the Senior Ambassador and BDFL of the TASBot community; I post TAS content on YouTube.com/dwangoAC based on livestreams from Twitch.tv/dwangoAC.

Why are people going so crazy over Discord, I don't get it. You still need an account to do anything useful and it doesn't do it's stuff better than other software. Well, at least it makes less people use the terrible thing called Teamspeak as a voice chat (even though they should actually use Mumble).
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

I never used it. And I imagine memory usage to be significantly higher than the IRC client I'm using.

It's basically a Skype that sucks less.

This. 'Migrating', as Got4n said, would imply that we'd simply stop using IRC when we have no reason to. As they say in Mexico...

I say the opposite to people when they talk about discord: "Why not just use irc?".

Correct, not going to happen... One might think that we're sticking with IRC mainly because our founding fathers or current administrators are old farts, but in truth, aside from that, it is because IRC is open (and still developed: http://ircv3.net/) and there's a huge variety of free and open client and server software, and your comparative discontent with IRC might not actually be a fault of the protocol, but of the client. Having open server software completely puts the network under the community's control (in this case Freenode's), but we could roll our own if we ever wanted (also: bots). If you want VoIP, simply run a Mumble server or similar and invite people there.
All syllogisms have three parts, therefore this is not a syllogism.

It's not just open, it's specified by an IETF RFC (2812) which puts it on the same level of openness as email, web browsers and so on.

I prefer no vendor tie-in over vendor tie-in.

Discord itself is quite nice, but I don't think it applies well to the TASVideos community as a whole. It'd be interesting to have a Discord channel for those who do want to use it.

Yeah what about it? (How about you people bring up advantages about the change you're suggesting, instead of pointlessly bringing up some random software? This is the third time now, come on, you aren't all that stupid, are you?)

We could always just switch over to AIM - the private messaging on that system is incredible. <_<
