Post subject: How much time to put into a TAS per day?

So I have no idea where I am at whether I am putting to much time in or not enough I was hoping someone more experienced could tell me what a good TAS work ethic looks like.

It's less about how much time you put in per day and more what you do with that time. For a truly great run, you'll have to put in a lot of time over the course of weeks, perhaps even months, but how much you want to put in per day is purely your choice. All that matters is what you're doing with that time to make the run as great as it can be.

I haven't worked on my TAS in months, but when I get back to it, I have all the notes so I can keep working on it and making it perfect. Time is not a factor. Effort is. Don't feel obligated to work on a TAS daily. It may cause you problems not solutions. Your results may vary.

I've found that TASing is no different from any other type of large project as far as work ethic is concerned. Each person has their own approach for tackling a large project, depending on their style, how long they can keep focus at a time and their amount and distribution of free time. This applies to both putting work into something in a day, as well as keeping up motivation for the whole project over a longer period of time. Eventually, you will figure out what approach works out best for you. It's just as much a part of gaining experience as learning the tools and getting familiar with TASing itself. What this means is that we can't really tell you what good work ethic looks like. It's different for each person, and what may work for me may not work for youself. You'll just have to see for yourself what the best way to get results is.

I very much agree with all 3 people above me. Time of working on and completing a TAS shouldn't be your main focus. Every TAS on the site takes tons of work ethics to finish at the level that they are. One TAS that I often think of when it comes to that is this movie. [2291] GBA Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi by Toothache in 1:02:42.05 The making of this TAS took a few years to make and finally finish, but it was very polished and entertaining to watch. Even to this day, I re-watch it as it still interests me. Point being, Focus more on bringing out the most work in your TASes and less on how quickly you can finish it.

TASing is a hobby first and foremost. And much like most hobbies, it's entirely up to you how much time you can or want to invest into it on a daily basis. It doesn't really matter for the end result whether you TAS for 1 hour a day or 16 hours a day (except with taking 1 hour a day it would take much longer before you get to the end result, of course). Just do what you are most comfortable with doing or whatever your schedule permits.

Usually, 2 hours of TASing, but not every day. And more often than I should, I am just writing scripts and doing some research. But in the final days of a TAS, especially if there're no real life obligations, I'd played up to 7 or 8 hours, or even more.
