Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone got a ton of different ports. I personally grew up with this version, but it sure doesn't mean I'll be continuing it. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/31288298610334745 WIP of what I did finish. For anyone looking to pick this up, there is an unfinished video guide that can be found here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNOUOE9YHiMRWwb5dqO7pccLkEjxFilhv and a wealth of resources can be found here http://www.speedrun.com/hp1ps1/guide/2djbm Additionally, here's the current WR, which uses every major trick except Fire Seed Skip. Unfortunately I couldn't watch the WIP because BizHawk runs so slowly on my low-tier laptop that half the inputs died :/ I'm sure it was great, but there is one problem that anybody wanting to pick this up should know - the fastest version is specifically NTSC-Canada; U is slower (as is J). If you know about how the book and movie of HP1 were released in the US with mentions of Philosopher's Stone being changed to Sorcerer's Stone, you might also know that Canada got the original British content. This also happened with the PS1 game; the US version was changed to have Sorcerer's Stone (and also other Americanised words like 'mom', and also had US English, Spanish, and German) while Canada had everything from the British version with Philosopher's Stone and languages of British English, French and German (I say British version instead of European because I've seen some European versions with different languages - maybe one of these languages might even be fastest). In the process of localising the US version, something messed up somewhere, because it's slower due to text skips, and apparently there are some other unhelpful glitches. As the Canadian version got everything straight from the source, just with a faster frame-rate, it's got an advantage over the US version (don't know for sure, but could be 1min+). Also, there has been a WIP on the Canadian version, but it's only up to the tutorial 'climbing' room with Nearly Headless Nick (before the snails). It was put on hiatus soon after Early 4-Eyes was found because there were also theories of a tutorial skip; the theories led to nowhere and the TASer hasn't returned to it yet.
Finished TASes: Bonsai Barber Currently working on Super Mario Galaxy 2 Green Stars (not likely to be on TASVideos due to savestate anchor and no verification movie). Cancelled but might return: FAST Racing League

Recently HP1PS1 has got a new major skip that saves around 10 minutes. I myself kept trying to figure out new stuff, and I found this controversial skip: http://pastebin.com/DJt3edBF So I would like to know the answers for these two questions in the pastebin before anyone start TASing this game. Also, we need to answer these questions in a RTA way, cause this skip should save around 3~4 minutes over the current route. EDIT: SRcom forum discussion: http://www.speedrun.com/hp1ps1/thread/xhwl0

It seems like a NG+ type of category if it were to be done.

Help me TASVideos, you're my only hope... Basically need a team effort to finally help crack the coveted Tutorial Skip. It's bothered me long enough, so I'm throwing it out to the community. The Tutorial Skip is a long-theorised skip which would allows us to save 5 minutes with a single, well-placed OOB or jump. Countless hours have gone into attempting it, with no success thus far. We know that it's possible because of videos like this, showing that the room loops back in on itself: https://go.twitch.tv/videos/117045341?t=03m20s However, the above video was only achieved with cheats. We in the HP1PS1 speedrunning community want to find a way to do this without cheating, either with an extremely precise jump, or with an OOB clip off of the edge of one of the bookshelves. This point in the game is only 5 or so minutes in, so if anyone wants to acquire a copy of the game and attempt it, it'd be much appreciated. We -know- it's possible, we just don't know -how- it's possible.
