I did this run for fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uRWfEYiGxo
Mothrayas found the adress that stores the stage, thanks to him, i could force it to enter the intro stage using Zero (wich he isn't normaly able to get in), as for the run, it is sub-optimal, because i didn't feel like optimizing Yammark's position so i can SDC the first 2 and the last balls. As for the giga attack, i used it and stopped movie replay after it.
That's pretty neat.
I wonder is there's a similar process for using X in X7's intro stage. (Of course, X6 is a PS1 game and X7 is a PS2 game, so I don't expect to see this anytime soon.)
I noticed something. X6 might actually be doable without dashing. Doing a standard 8-boss run requires Zero, however since there are several places where dashing or double jumping is required. The weirdest, in my own opinion, is the first obstacle of Shield Sheldon's level. There's a spike pit that's barely impassable.
What's weirder however is almost all places to get Zero are impossible to get to without dashing.
Shield Sheldon requires the dash for that first bed of spikes
Commander Yammarks Nightmare Zone requires dashing to get past the pits
Rainy Turtaloid requires a dash to get into the nightmare zone after getting hit
Blaze Heatnix requires either the blade armour or Zero. If it can be done via walljump, it would require the dash.
Metal Shark Prayer requires a dash to get the the area with the nightmare zone, a dash to get it, parts to make the jump, and a weapon to set it all up.
Blizzard Wolfang requires a dash to get to the nightmare zone, and Blaze Heatnix's nightmare effect.
That leaves Infinity Majinion and Ground Scharvich. I thought it was only Infinity Majinion, but at the top of my head, I can't think of what it would be that requires dashing. Either way, compared to Infinity Majinion, it might as well be impossible.
Biggest issue being the boss, since you can't dash, you can't Slash Cancel to victory. This makes X an actual possibility for levels. I'll experiment with this whole idea later, I haven't tested it through the entire game but atleast the first 9 levels should be possible.

Isn't it slightly faster to use crouch cancel rather than jump cancel?
I tried doing that, and it seems to be about the same time, if not a tiny bit faster.

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
Metal Shark Prayer(Player) may not be possible. I was doing the run in real-time and couldn't get through it without dashing. Not only that, but the crusher right before the ladder that leads to the split path might not be possible either, speedster might fix it but I doubt it. Also, Zero is required for Gate 1 for obvious reasons, and X is required for Gate 2. In gate 2, there's one hang-up in the second half, most of you probably know what I'm talking about. To get past it without dashing, abuse of the Magma Blade's physics is required and even then I believe you just barely make it. So instead of an 8-maverick run well just do the "fast as possible" standard. Blaze Heatnix is obviously required, and Infinity Majinion would be needed to make Blaze Heatnix's stage not 30 minutes long. Guard Shell and Yammar Option would be helpful, but I don't know if it's worth it.
Edit: I've started the run. Wish me luck!
I know you know it's sub-optimal but i will tell what stuff can be better so you can work on it later.
(2870) I think you can kill that robot by jumping in some distance so then you can climb that section.
(4050) You shold've jumped it and get hit from the other side, that would push you to the right instead of the left.
(5350) If you delay your jump a bit, you MAY get pushed by the second drill to on top of the platform instead of below it (not sure about this one).
(6230) Don't jump toward doors.
Bossfight: You should always Ground Slash when the boss is near the ground, otherwise, Air Slash. You could've slashed more faster by cancelling it with a jump. And of course, you need make sure the boss is near the eye so you can slash both of them at the same time when he has 9 HP. (the air slash would reduce it's HP to 8).
High Max: Well, you know you have to manipulate him.
Is it worth it? I don't know, this type of run would be too long for non-megaman fans. It would be liked by fans IMO, but not for the rest.
After some magic, I bring to you WIP1.5!

Saved 830 frames.
The current route planed is...
Yammark < Scaravich < Majinion 2nd < Majinion (Zero)
X gains 400 souls from bosses, and 100 from Nightmares, which makes Gate 2 possible. (Thanks rolanmen1)
dashless?Just do an X-only/zeroless run!it's faster, less arbitrary and i hope it doesn't end up being lame
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto.
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
So, i finaly beated Nightmare Mother.
So far saving 2102 frames (00:35.03 seconds). I have no idea when i will finish this TAS since im not that much interested tbh. But i will finish it.......someday.
I made this comparison video for fun, it compares X with Blade Armor vs Zero on a of the second area of magma area, going for 100%. For more info look at the description.
